Legendary at Sleepy Hollow State Park is a near perfect 18 hole disc golf venue. It may not be the best disc golf course in Michigan but ‘Sleepy should be considered among them. If you have not played it I’d suggest making a 2022 summer bucket list destination visit. Great camping is conveniently located adjacent to #16 pin. Featuring a myriad of state park activities like swimming, horseback riding, kayaking, fishing the family cannot miss.
Legendary, in of itself as a disc track has every shot to challenge even the most experienced player. It’s flow and scenery can be enjoyed by beginners as well. Spotter is suggested on the 18 hole moderate to high fitness layout. Park/Maintenance office does keep a lost and found. If in-season for Camping check there first. Camping check in also sells and/or rents discs.

This course needs attention! Baskets are good and the tee pads are nice. Mowing the course is great, But the second you go off the fairway at all the rough is tall, thick, and prickly. I found that bringing someone new here is not what you want to do, unless you want to spend all your time in the bushes getting cut up. We lost a disc 5 feet off the fairway. It shouldn’t be that rough and it’s definitely short enough to be family friendly but new players aren’t going to stay in the fairway every time. It is supposed to be a family park, and should be fun to play for new players and family members that have never played, not a walk through the jungle.

Overall Impression:
An interesting course and use of the property. A combination of both wooded holes with tough lines and open holes where you can throw. While I like courses that have both woods and open holes, some of the holes have tough, if not borderline impossible lines that have to be hit to score. If you don't like traditional Michigan holes, then a good chunk of this course will not be enjoyable for you. (post made 2022).

Rating Grade: B-
As a course itself I give it a B- because it has many interesting holes that are fair, but some of the luck box holes keep it from being any higher. Furthermore, if this was a sanctioned event at the course than my rating would be closer to a C- or lower because it rates very poorly in my experience.

The course is well maintained & very challenging. There's a good mix of holes for both backhand & forehand shots regardless if you're right or left handed. I like the fact that there are some wide open shots as well as tight tricky shots where the shape of your shot means everything. My only dislike is the fact that the tee pads are fairly short. I know on shorter holes having a big tee pad may not be necessary but I like to take the same walk up on the tee pad regardless of the power I put into my throw.

Sleepy Hollow is a great course that seems to play very technical. In a State Park so you will need the 10 dollar sticker to enter the park to disc. When I played it was EXTRRMELY windy on any hole near Lake Ovid. Farelly good routing although some pads are a little close to some baskets. Very lose disc trendy too. This course treats you bad if you dont land in the fairway. Definatly for the more experienced disc golfer as lines are tight and there are hazards everywhere. This course was groomed excellently, until you fin your self in the rough crawling through bushes and thistle. #9 is a peninsula green with water 6 ft on either side of the basket... play safe as this water is stagnant and awful mucky looking.

All in all this is a great course and ill rate it a b+.

On another note bring food to cook on the grill and when you are done disc golfing enjoy a brat and take a dip in the lake!

Could use more trash containers. High winds made for tricky play my first time here. Looking forward to playing here again someday.

I loved 9 unlike many others and did get the wow from it, and 17 with a right sloping turn with an extreme left sloping fairway the whole way was awsome as well. b- is above avg. but being long, many holes basically out in the field, and lack of wow factor made for a slightly dissapoiting trip for me. All in all nice though.

This was my second time playing the course. The rough is very rough and if you miss the fairway the rough will cause a longer search. I lost my first drive but I also found a disc on hole 1 so ill take a missing yellow/green destroyer over a found tyedye Orc. The tee pads are about 1 ½ steps long which is about 1½ steps too little. There is a downed tree right in the middle of hole 5 which makes it extremely difficult and needs to be taken care of. Most of the bomber holes seem to be anhyzer which means time to break out those understable discs. The course would be a lot better if they just cleared some under brush on a few holes and made the pads 6 feet longer.

The pads are super short, which is kind of a pain if you're trying to run up to a longer pin. There are some nice elevation changes. The course is technical with a couple open holes at the beginning and end. Some long. Some short. It's a nice variety. I definitely recommend checking it out.

I LOVE this course and play it regularly. Great layout and mix of shots. Some open, some wooded, some perfect for backhand, some perfect for sidearm, and some even great for overhand. Great use of elevation. Never seen it crowded. Could use a few arrows to direct newbies between some of the baskets and tees. Hole 9 is the signature, playing up onto a narrow peninsula, and has claimed more than its fair share of discs. They recently added more garbage bins.

This is probably the best course I've ever been to. Most all holes are big and open with lots of room to throw. Also all holes except maybe 2 or 3 are over 300 ft long. Several water hazards and very thick woods all around you so your gonna want to bring your A game and some discs you don't care about cause losing a disc is almost a garuntee here. Hole 9 is a very tough holeand goes way uphill sort of to the left then goes steep downhill sharp left onto a sort of peninsula about 75ft long but only about 8 to 10 ft wide surrounded by very deep water on both sides...you must be careful here or you will lose your disc...better to just throw to the basket low than go for a putt and miss and lose your disc. All in all my favorite course and is a leftys dream course considering most holes go to the right. Lastly this courses only downside are the small tee pads.

Amazing course, there is pretty much something for everyone. From open, big arm cannon holes to tight and technical holes, flat, smooth shots to rolling hills. Playing this course will make you a better player. The only real complaints I have are that there's a lot of locations for casual water which can start to stink and that being near water, you deal with some heavier winds than you might at other courses.

Fair mix of open and wooded holes. hole 9 is the signature hole. 391 feet downhill to basket location that looks like a peninsula with water about 10 feet on either side of the basket. Definitley like the course and would put it on a must play list. not many other courses nearby.

In a state park it almost always has a private course feel because of little traffic. I believe there is a league here during the summer and there are tournaments here throughout the year. Really a great place to put a course. Right off a beach and out in BFE. Course could use some benches and trash receptacles around the teeing areas.
