So far, this is the best course I have ever played. The layout is very creative and challenging, with lots of very unique holes. I really like the fact that there are par 4's and a par 5, it makes the course more interesting. The course is on Shining Mountain Golf Course, so the course is very well kept. This course was put on a great piece of land for disc golf because there are trees, elevation change, lots of OB and great scenery. Some of the course is pretty wide open, but there is lots of OB to keep the challenge. There are still plenty of holes where there are trees or many trees. Only hole 12 and hole 7 don't have OB, but they do have lots of trees. Every other hole has some sort of OB (Greens, Bunkers, Cart Paths, Dry Creeks, Creeks, Water, Roads), making this a very challenging course. There are a few birdie holes but there are more very challenging/rewarding holes like hole 3, hole 5, hole 11, hole 16, hole 17 and maybe even some others. Hole 3 is basically either a birdie or a bogie. The basket is right by the water, and the green is 30 feet or so behind the basket. Hole 5 is also right next to the water, and then 15 feet or so to the left of the basket is a steep hill. If you are on the hill it is a death putt toward the water. Hole 11 is a long but very downhill par 3. It's reachable but very close to a green and two bunkers. Hole 16 is very hard to reach and extremely difficult to birdie, but if you have the arm to do it, it's possible to birdie. The dry creek just in front of the basket is what makes it a high risk to go for a birdie off the tee. There is a path right next to the basket on hole 17, and then a green on the left. Because of the challenge and great layout of this course, I hope that one day they will host big events with the best players in the world coming to play.
There are only a few minor problems with this course. Between some holes the flow is a little off and sometimes there is a long walk to the next hole. On hole 9, you have to throw over the tee of ten and there is a long walk between 5 and 6. Also, on hole 4 and 8 the tee area is astroturf and they are little lumpy. The rest of the tee areas are golf fairway grass which is pretty nice for teeing off. Other than that, I can't think of any other issues.
