It’s criminal that MSU no longer has a course on campus. They have all the resources

havent been out here in years. Is all 18 put in? easy to follow?

Justin Abram   March 17, 2015 at 7:24am

Last I was there in the fall, there were 14 or 15 in. The layout isn't easy to follow unless you've played it before, or the MSU Club has been out this year to clean up/flag the tees. Lots of good safari golf to be had out there though!

Eric Savoie   March 18, 2015 at 9:40pm

We have 15 right now. We will have 2 more added by May, and hopefully the last basket added in the fall. We are also working on course signage. Check out our website periodically for updates: msudiscgolfclub.weebly.com

any details about when the course will be back in the ground?

Jeremy Reisig   August 20, 2014 at 7:11am

I believe half of it is back in now. Should be fully in within the next week.

Justin Abram   August 20, 2014 at 10:04am

Thanks Jeremy. All 18 this time? I've got 2 aces on the bollards on 3 that I can't really count, would love to have a real basket there. :)

Eric Savoie   September 5, 2014 at 11:05am

14 baskets are now in. We have to fix a sleeve to get the 15th basket we currently have in. We still need to do some more fundraising before we can put in the remaining three baskets.

ah, bummer. Should go back in around August. I heard they'll have all 18 baskets when it goes back in.

Eric Savoie   May 19, 2014 at 2:50pm

We had to pull the course on May 5th for the Ag Expo. It indeed will be going back in early August. You can find more info about the course and the MSU club at msudiscgolfclub.weebly.com

This Saturday, November 9th, we are hosting a fundraiser at the Michigan State University Disc Golf Club! We are hoping to raise enough funds to put in our three missing baskets, get course signage, and help send our team to Georgia for the NCDGC! We have several CTPs, and will also be having a raffle and ace pool. Come on out for a fun day of golf on our new layout!

Hey CCR and Lansing disc golfers! The MSU course has had a layout change! We are looking to add the final three tee pads and course signage very soon as well. To do so, we are holding a fundraising tournament on November 9th. Come help the club, and make sure to check out the new MSU Gold Layout!

I stumbled upon and then played the flagged layout today - very cool changes and some tough anhyzer looks on a couple holes. 3 looked a little short til I read the flag and saw how much that low branch was in play. I'm glad to see something improvements in the works!

Thanks for the feedback Justin!

Justin Abram   October 21, 2013 at 12:03pm

After playing it a few times with my girlfriend (we passed through the club round on Sunday), any plans for Mando's on 2 and 18. I'm taking the anny routes but my girlfriend is plowing hyzers right through the other teepads. The course is rarely busy enough for it to matter, but a lot of ... more

Jeremy Reisig   October 21, 2013 at 2:10pm

I designed the holes with quality>efficiency. There is rarely anybody out there. Originally, 1,2,13, and 18 were going to have mandos, but with the limited amount of people, it keeps more routes open. In an event of a tournament they will be mando'd. Since the course plays almost in reverse, the holes are more lefty friendly.

Justin Abram    September 1, 2013 at 8:34pm

I just played it, and have a couple questions/concerns. Hole 4 (I still play an "object hole" for 3, so I'm talking about the first tunnel shot in the pines) - where is it? No pad, no basket, did I miss a new hole somewhere? The second thing is hole 2's tee position seems in firing range for those who go a bit long on hole 1.

Eric Savoie   September 1, 2013 at 2:12pm

We had a pad on hole 4 the other day, but someone must have moved it. The basket is hidden in some overgrown weeds which we will be clearing out soon. I also noticed hole 2 was moved, and I moved it back to it's normal position.

Eric Savoie   September 1, 2013 at 2:13pm

Some of the disadvantages of rubber teepads is that random people move them sometimes. We're going tow work with the university to try and move the course to a permanent location, or if not, get concrete tee pads where the course currently is.

Justin Abram   September 2, 2013 at 8:03am

ha, I was probably w/in 20' of the basket and didn't see it! >.<

Eric Savoie    August 28, 2013 at 8:05am

We just put the baskets back on the course yesterday. Tee pads will be put out in the near future. We will eventually get a sign for the course where you can find important information. Keep your eyes out for a fundraiser tournament in the fall!

is it easy to navigate the course?

Eric Savoie   August 28, 2013 at 11:10pm

It's a little difficult without the teepads, but we will be putting them in at 7pm tomorrow. Hole one begins by the southeast corner. We plan on adding the missing 3 baskets by October. Here is a link to the course layout: http://www.dgcoursereview.com/course_files/1583/a2cffb79.jpg

have to check it out when its done. I'll bring the beer.

Matt Rinker    December 2, 2012 at 4:31am

Way to go MSU Disc Golf Club!
And please listen to Eric and treat the course well. Use the tee pads!!! so the grass doesn't get worn away, the Ag Dept thinks very highly of this land and we are lucky to have use of it.

The course is officially back up and running! We currently only have 15 baskets, since two of them were previously stolen and one was damaged by a lawn mower. MSU has started a new club, and we are working on funding for three baskets. The course will have to be shut down for the Ag Expo in the summer for about a month and a half. Spread the word, and treat the course well if you want it to stay!
