About this tournament
Disc for Life Kansas Chapters Inaugural charity tournament will be on Saturday, September 14th 2024 in Topeka Kansas. Disc for life brings awareness to Mental health and Suicided prevention through disc golf. We collect used unwanted discs write the #988 suicide prevention number on them and positive messages like, your round is not over, you're not alone, your life matters. We send them to courses and have people throw them to the next basket or take them with them to new courses and post pictures on our Facebook page.
This tournament will have singles and doubles events, silent auction raffles, food truck, disc exchange, and will be different then any tournament you have attended. All holes will have a theme such as " When your in the darkness you need to reach out for help to guide you" the registrants will need to wear a blindfold and have there card mates guide them towards the basket. AD/HD. PTSD, Life is just shit sometimes and throw into a toilet bowl and more. We have great sponsors donating cool items and will have a Limited Edition Grateful Buzz Zuca cart with numbered, signed with positive messages by the artist Michael Barnard Limited Edition Grateful Buzz Discs.
The money raised from this tournament will be to hopefully buy a basket and discs for a crises center or rehabilitation center in Kansas. As a crises care specialist who has a passion for Disc Golf I used to bring my discs into work and have the clients throw them into wash baskets. I truly believe people go to crises or rehab looking for help. We band aid them and send them back into there old lives to fall again, While in a center they need to be able to find something that when they leave they no longer go back to there old life. I believe disc golf has saved my life and many others who have found Disc for Life Discs in the darkest hours. I know the Disc Golf family is a powerful, loving group of people who want to grow the sport and help save our veterans, our brothers and sisters. I hope you can help me to help them.
