Beer for my horses is a song-and motto- for old fashioned justice. I've never been drinking while discing, but plan on doing so at some point. When I do, it will be in cans and they will go home with me. I will be keeping my eye, and ears open while on the course. The broken glass has gotten bad just lately and they will be confronted if, or should I say when, they get caught.

Plus, those who play the pines, usually don't head to midland. And those at midland don't usually make the pines. As I said on facebook, I think this will create more leagues everywhere, because it will create happier atmospheres during doubles because all the serious players, the ones who might get mad or upset during dubs, will have another place to play

I don't see how you can be against singles since you said yourself you are trying to get sponsored.. How does doubles help your tourney play.. Everywhere in Michigan has singles and they all thrive.. Kinda seems like common sense to me.

Played first singles league tonight had four chuckers show up on short notice and played through some serious weather but the course handled the water quite well only minor flooding between seven and eight, sixteens tee pad was still very playable with some water surrounding it. Played first singles league tonight had four chuckers show up on short notice and played through some serious weather but the course handled the water quite well only minor flooding between seven and eight, sixteens tee pad was still very playable with some water surrounding it. Hope this catches on because its some of the best tourney prep you can get, doubles is not my forte, but I enjoy the random draw format as anything can happen. We never got a lot of players on Friday nights so hoping Thurs works out better when, I play Pines on Friday eve's I typically have the entire Course to myself people seem to be doing other things on Fri. Some people play leagues every night...don't know the percentage but I usually pick one night to travel along with playing my home course because I'm already here. It's not easy to get to Midland or Sanford after work so that's an exception when I do. I made it to Freeland once or twice last year even though I love the course. My daughters play Softball almost every Tuesday for the next two months so I'll probably be alternating between Reed or Wickes and Freeland if and when they dry up. Personally I'd like to see another singles league started up during the week but with all the hoopla this singles League started up that probably won't happen. If half the guys that played doubles three times a week were playing in a singles league instead, they wouldn't still be playing in Am3 and never winning a tourney that's not a slam just a fact anyone who wants to be serious and has been playing five years or more should be playing Am1 or at least Am2 Come on Am 3 typically is for beginners I understand some people don't live for disc golf and if your competitive level ins Am3 that's fine but if you want to get to the next level you have to play against better players hence my argument for more singles leagues. It will make better players out of everyone involved! If I would have stayed in Adv. Grandmasters I could have had a lot more tourney wins. My rating is nothing special actually it's usually the lowest in the Pro Grandmaster field but I usually have a chance to cash if I play to my ability the problem is Doubles does not help you play to the best of your ability the strategy doesn't transfer well to singles tournament play so that's my argument for more singles leagues hope no one is offended by this post just trying to let people see both side of the coin I could go on but this is already an awful long post looking forward to shooting with my next partner and hoping more players come out and shoot some singles at the Pines. The rest of what I was stating is that by playing against the better players in MPG I believe this challenges me to play better so I'll pass on the chance to win more often in Am divisions in order to try to get to the next level. Also I believe doubles is very helpful even essential to newer players helps them learn PDGA rules vs casual play and allows them to pick up tips from more experienced players (if the experienced players are willing which they should be)and maybe see a variety of shots they may otherwise not have seen vs shooting a casual round with friends who may also be new to the game for this reason I recommend new players start to play leagues right away or at least as soon as they have any kind of ability to make a tee shot upshot or putt, after all I myself often don't contribute a whole lot to a doubles round :( and what I said in the previous post about Am3 being for beginners is quoted from the PDGA site regarding ratings not just an opinion. Also found this info on handicaps and using ratings to determine outcome when Ams and Pro play head to head in singles this is the format used last night at Singles at the Bend and it was very effective I won barely covering Josh Russel.(Copied and pasted from PDGA website).... How do you use the rating numbers for handicapping? "Every throw equals about 10 rating points on a typical 18-hole course from the long tees. If your scores average 10 throws over SSA, your rating will be 100 points lower than 1000 which would be 900. So a player with rating of 950, who is about 5 throws better than a player with a 900 rating, should probably spot the 900 rated player about 4 to 5 throws if they are trying to level the playing field for the round"....... This is the attitude we should all have as it takes the pressure off your partner and makes for a much more enjoyable round. There is no reason I shouldn't be shooting 6 to 10 down at the Pines in singles so how could I put it on my partner if we only shoot a -4? Yet many top players continue to blame there partner when they have a bad score that's below there singles average. Just stating some of the issues with local doubles leagues and hoping this will help the comradery ...Oh yeah guess who won that doubles round :)
