Christie Lake Conservation Area

Christie Lake has come a long way since it opened up in 2007. The park did a great job of getting the baskets and outsourcing the layout. Christie Lake has come a long way since it opened up in 2007. The park did a great job of getting the baskets and outsourcing the layout. The first few years, nothing had really changed and CL started to go on the radar of "not worth the trip" Over the last 2 years there has been some dedicated locals, who took ownership of the course and established a great relationship with the conservation area. The park slowly started to take shape, with a creative eye and a ton of work. The fairways took on a look like no other park in Ontario. Careful grooming and regular maintenance (grass cutting) were key with developing this course. Proper signage for long and short tees, as well as directional instructions were added to enhance the players experience. A touch of Canadian class was put on every basket; wind flags that allow you to see the direction and strength of wind on each hole, at the same time, giving a better visual of the baskets on further holes or ones that have elevation. Mother Nature took its toll on the park, forcing a new long and short on #17, which in my opinion are great additions, with a bit more challenge.
4 tournaments were completed in 2011 and 2012 and allowed the TD's to raise money (along with some generous donations) to install new tee pads. A thick rubber pad was tested and was approved for the project. They have been ordered and are expected to be in place Oct/Nov. 2012.
There are a couple of new projects in the planning stage, which will add another degree of awesomeness.

Christie Lake plays like a champ and the harder you try and tackle a new personal best, the better your all around game will be!
