UPDATE Gateway Collegiate Classic (St. Louis), Day 2:
Woke up bright and early to get some warm-up practice in at Endicott Park before our first round of singles play. The weather was a bit colder than yesterday with added wind. Combine that with an already tough course and you're asking for a rough round. The lowest scores from the field were 53 (Rd 1) and 52 (Rd 2). Here were the K-State team results:
AJ Cruz -- 62, 62 -- 124
Josh Carroll -- 66, 61 -- 127
Jacob Patchen -- 68, 64 -- 132
Ben Nispel -- 68, 69 -- 137
Since the best three scores are taken from each round, that puts us at 383 after two rounds of singles. The first place school is sitting at 341. We will be competing at Sioux Passage tomorrow in the alternate shot/best shot team format. Sioux is a long bombers paradise with rolling hills and lined OB.
Notable Team Accomplishments:
Jacob Patchen & AJ Cruz took 1st place among Amateurs at the Crystal City Underground doubles event
Jacob also took Closest-to-Pin on Hole 11, Endicott during Round 2
