Foz Miller  › DGLA: Michigan Cooperative Point Series - Winter 2012/13   January 17, 2013 at 8:23pm

Good question Sam. The Michigan Cooperative Point Series tries to included as many leagues as possible. We currently have some limitations such as Handicapped leagues that do not post the adjusted scores. We have also had discussions in the past about leagues that are not open to the general public. There are several cases such as college leagues or Women or Youth only leagues. One day we may have Veteran or Red Headed hill billy only leagues (The later I am going to start myself). The DGLA members had a vote a year ago to allow the protected or under represented leagues participate - such as Women, Youth and School organizations. In the case of Kensington and a few other leagues anyone can play but they do have a one time registration fee if your not a member. Allowing the individual leagues to explore different option for supporting their activities helps explore new ideas and the sport to grow. We will explore situations where either the general public are "prohibited" to play or the league is doing something to negatively impact the intent of the MiCPS. These decisions will be made by the DGLA voting members.

We have an up coming vote on leagues that play rounds in and out of Michigan - Border leagues. Should all those rounds, even outside of Michigan be included in the MiCPS? It allows players who live on or near the border to play more disc golf and since there is no way for us to currently just include the rounds played in Michigan we would have to either include all rounds, as we do now or exclude all rounds even those played in Michigan.

You bring up a good question - not always simple easy answers and some of these decisions will change as the number & type of leagues grow.

What do others think? Make sure you have your free DGLA membership and vote soon to help define the direction of the MiCPS.

My opinion is Kensington should drop their fee. But I don't think it should be points bonanza there and u have to pay them extra on top of entry fee just to play. I think they should be discluded because of that. Micops isn't even cash payout so letting them rape people outa money for their mad points there is ****ed

As a descendent of deer-poaching moonshiners, I demand the red-headed hillybilly league be opened up to hillbillies of all hair colors.

iif you feel raped over $5 to play a round and possibly win cash when you carry $300-$400 dollars in discs. I would reevaluate

as for the club fee, it is not manditory. if you do join you get a disc, and you dont have to play with jamie.
