Just as soon as we emptied the car at the Optimist on Saturday, the rain began to fall. Winds were swirling already as we geared up for some great disc golf action. The Optimist, being a fan favorite, was sure to not disappoint. The group avoided the the vast parking lot, stayed safe and started with pars on #1. As we moved onward, the wind and rain picked up speed. As much to our surprise, as Doug himself, we found him with the early six hole lead. Hole 7 came along and claimed the first, and only, disc casualty of the round as Ryan's Whippet could not overcome the fierce winds in order to land safely. Hole 8 was not much better as the field saw a plethora of O.B. penalties come their way. Mediocrity soon gave way to greatness as CBass slams home the first league ace of the season on hole 12!! An impossible shot amidst the conditions, well done. Doug faded away, Eric began practice rounds early, and Foose fought his hardest posting a few deuces on the back half. But it was not enough to pass Mr. Thomas as he was the lone golfer under par, finishing strong with 4 birdies on the last 5 holes. Who will rise next week at the Spring Tournament? When the conditions are right, the scorecards will sizzle as the players take aim on the Thompson River Ranch course!! Stay tuned.
