2011-2012 Flint Hills Bag Tag League

The FINAL Warner Wednesday league round for the 2011-2012 Bag Tag Season. The weather conditions were nearly perfect, with there being a slight breeze and temps. in the 70's. There were only a few non-league players on the course so the round went quick.

With 25 bag tag members, plus 3 casual players at tonight's event, we fell just shy of our all time league night attendance. However, that is not to mean the event lacked excitement.

The scoring was very tight this evening with only 5 of the 25 competitors not involved in a tie of some sort. The most exciting tie of the evening, and probably of the bag tag season, occurred on this final round. A tie for TAG #1, settled by the last two throws of the entire season! WOW, what a finish!

Thanks to everyone in attendance tonight, and of course to all who participated off & on throughout the season. It's been fun! Hope to see you next season!

Played a quick tag round in place of Riley's league due to the grass being about waist high. Just Jeremy and myself showed for the 1000 tee off.

Great round of disc golf with friends. No new members this month, but we did once again see long time members Mr. Cattell & Mr. Ford.

Getting Steve more active in the Bag Tag league...too bad he's got a lower tag now, so damn on that one, haha. Great round, pretty fun course.

A very large group of players were present this evening, setting a new Bag Tag league night record at 30 players present for Warner Wednesday.
The weather was great, maybe even on the warm side, with temps in the 90's. The slight breeze seemed to be enjoyed by all, especially those who have been battling extreme winds for the last few weeks.

A funkified casual round of doubles adding a new chapter to the bag tag league (unfortunately the settings for this league cannot exactly portray this as a doubles round).

All scores are the score of the two person teams. All tags were thrown in together, then the tags were re-issued at two tags per team, with the teammate who arrived with the better tag getting the better of the two tags.

(Neal played as Kevin's teammate, however he did not have his tag so he's not shown in the scores. Rob played cali style to establish his score.)

Tonight was an awesome weather night at Warner Park, with temps in the 70’s & a slight breeze. A good showing of 22 players was in attendance, with four new members joining, plus the return of few league members we have not seen in recent months.

We actually played the GOLD set-up of Jones Park. The Gold set-up combines both the East & West courses into one long pro caliber course. This round shows our scores from our 3rd day of the Glass Blown Open, in the Amateur Masters division.

Dodging rain storms the day before the Glass Blown Open.

Great weather for a spring evening, slight breezy conditions with temps in the low 60's. A nice mix of new and old league members, plus everything in between. A total of 18 players were present, with no new members joining this evening.

A quick round of 9 on the way home from playing 40 holes in the Discs Unlimited Open (Herington, KS).

Weather wise, tonight was a perfect night. Calm skies with just enough wind to make the discs flat out fly. As expected, the great weather brought out a record number of league members & new members. A total of 28 league members played this evening.

The weather during tonight's official league round was a classic rain storm. No, thunder & lightening, just rain... a lot of it. Of course there was a little wind to make us feel at home. All things considered, everyone seemed to enjoying the round.
There were a total of 10 league members in attendance tonight. Tonight the league gained 2 new members, plus saw the return of 2 members that have been away for a while. Welcome aboard new members Kirsten & Jeremy, plus welcome back "Bird Man" Bill & Elliot.

It was just Bill and I at doubles league tonight. We decided to play for bag tags California style. Yes, there was a lot of water on the course, and new flags on the baskets.

20+ mph winds

Quick round of 9 to finish off the afternoon (after playing the Tuttle course). Not as windy here, compared to Tuttle, but still a factor.

A casual round on yet another windy spring afternoon. The standard 20mph sustained wind is starting to feel "normal". A friend of Bill's, Josh, joined us to play disc golf for his first time. He's a natural... he may eventually join the league.

Thanks Quinten and Scott for coming out to Manhattan. Wind got stronger and stronger during the round, but Austin still could handle that. Good rounds, everyone.

Tonight was the return of the official Warner Wednesday league night for this spring. No more official Sunday bag tag league for the season.

Tonight’s Warner Wednesday had a very solid turn out. The 80+ degree temps were amazing for mid March! A total of 15 players were in attendance, 3 of which joined the league tonight. Welcome aboard Brock, Jordan and Dave!

This was a glow round on a windy spring night. The moon was fairly bright, which helped with seeing the trees. We had a couple of good groups (as well as Bill's dad, Gary), which we reordered by score after nine holes.

Today's extremely windy weather was not to be ignored. With the wind speed during the league round at 17mph, plus the 37mph gusts (that felt way stronger), made for some shots never seen before in our league history. However, these extreme conditions did not deter a nice turnout of 20 players. After all, a little wind can't deter Discs Fanatics!

Last but not least, with the switch over of Daylight Savings Time next week, plus with the weekend tournament season getting rolling, today was THE LAST SUNDAY LEAGUE DAY of the 2011-2012 season. The Next Official League round will be on WEDNESDAY, MARCH 14 (5:30p)

Nice casual round with 4 bag tag members, plus one bag tag league recruit Dan (Rob's friend). Of course it was a little windy at times. Thus the group fed the lake five discs (Hole #13), only one of which was recovered.

Despite it being an extremely windy day, all participants had a great time hitting the road to shop Discs Unlimited & playing Newton's 24 hole Camp Hawk!

Great weather for mid-February in Kansas, 53 degrees for a high temp + moderate winds.
Great attendance for a winter league also with 20 on hand to compete.

What seemed to be a great day weather wise turned south right around the time the round started, and seemed to get colder with every minute. But still, great turnout considering. Thanks to everyone that came to the Riley league once again.

Our foursome at the Ice Bowl agreed to play for tags. Josh won the CPT playoff, with Adam coming in second.

A nine hole casual round played after the league round. A 3 way tie breaker play-off was needed. Results: 1st Jon, 2nd Dakota The Beast, 3rd Daisuke.

A turnout of 21 official players, plus approx. 6 tag along casual players, equals a really good turnout for a late January outing. Of course the nice temps of mid 50 degree weather in the "dead of winter" might have been a factor.
Once again our league membership grew with the addition of a second Mr. Williams. Welcome aboard Mr. Williams & a shout out to Josh Carroll for recruiting him!

Absolutely great weather for January, with a high of 66 degrees & mild to strong winds. T-shirts & shorts in mid-January can't be beat!

The play was fast & furious with lots of solid scores. There were seven ties among the players, resulting in some interesting finishes.

A large number of players joined today (6). Welcome aboard Mr. Everett, Mr. Prasek, Mr. Lowman, Mr. Stapp, Tommy V., & young master Comstock. That makes our total league membership for this season just 3 short of 100!

A great turnout for an official league round on NEW YEARS DAY! A total of 15 players, including one none league member, made for a solid group on the holiday.

The average temp of 45 degrees, and winds (from varied directions) up to 15 mph, made for a challenging round.

The impressive performers of the day were Kevin Zane by scoring a 48, and Adam J. for registering yet another ACE during league play.

Matt drained a nice 40'+ putt in socks from a cedar tree after having his shoe sucked off in the mud.

Another official Flint Hills Bag Tag league round on a warm & windy December day. The temp. peaked out at 59 degrees, the wind speeds during the round ranged from 14 mph to 24 mph. Three new members joined our bag tag league this weekend, with three of them playing in this round. Welcome aboard Lisa, Bob & Steve!

Today's round marked the last official league round of the year, however the season is NOT over. The current "season" is a 2011-2012 season which continues into next year, culminating in May.

Seven disc golf crazed people decided it was a good idea to play a bag tag casual round at Warner Park AFTER already playing the 1st Annual Ft Riley Winter Open. What a sure sign of being Disc Golf Fanatics (or fools) of Kansas. Whew, what a day!

A total of 23 players competed in this league round despite the cold weather (mid 30's). Among the players, were 6 new members. Welcome aboard Tomas, Andrew, Reuben, Wade, David & Ryan!

This challenge was played out during the Ft. Riley Big Red One league.
Austin Cranston was present, but declined to participate in this challenge.

Kevin won and gave me #42 which is the number that my favorite baseball player used to put on his uniform. Score is not so great but still good round in pretty good weather with a little strong wind.

Giving thanks for disc golf by playing a round on Thanksgiving day morning.
Keiko played the first 9 holes, then played scorekeeper and coach for the second 9 holes. (thus the DNF).
Excellent temperature & sunlight for late November. However, very gusty winds made putting a challenge. Daisuke pulls out the win by playing steady & avoiding trouble in the timber.

Austin & Mark tied after 9 holes. Their playoff continued for 6 holes! Austin eventually won the tie breaker.
Played part of the round with with Bryce Willams & Josh (?). Unfortunately, Bryce & Josh had to leave before the round was completed... Josh said he might join the league now that we're playing on Sundays.

First true COLD WEATHER round for the 2011-2012 season. High temperature during the round was 36 degrees, plus a cool north breeze. Despite cool weather conditions, there was a strong showing of 15 players, including one new player. Thanks to all who came out to play, plus welcome aboard Mr. Beadle!

On a sad note, two players decided to surrender their tags (Tulp & Kennedy) & no longer compete in this league. Thus note the DNFs for those two players.

Had to break in our new discs from our morning trip to see Dennis Vahsholtz & the rest of the Discs Unlimited gang. Mark's discs seemed to be more broke in than mine... by three strokes.

Nice fall Veterans Day trip to Herington to play DG and visit Discs Unlimited. Many amazing shots were made & a few were missed. Then a trip to see Dennis Vahsholtz & the rest of the Discs Unlimited gang. We bought few new discs, then more Vahsholtz joined the league.
