May 26 course update - ALL fairways were cut and trimmed this past weekend. Holes 1 & 2 are a little soggy, especially after a rain but regardless, all 20 holes are awaiting more players. The course is getting the attention it deserves with Ron estimating 40 vehicles visiting over a 2 day period when he was cutting. Of those he spoke to, nearly all were visiting from some distance. Play it, Review it, donate for tee pads. Thanks.

April 12th - COURSE CONDITION UPDATE - The course is in flood conditions - you should all wait to play until the rain stops and we have some good sun and wind.

Craig Prime    March 27 at 10:19am

Spring course conditions remain wet with holes 1 & 2 nearly flooded and hole 3 having standing water near the basket. The wooded holes will most likely have wet areas developing as the final traces of snow leave with more rain (hopefully no more snow). There were players out this past week so it is playable but only for those that want to weave their way through the playable holes or standing water... Visit Old Airport DGC soon.

I will be spending the weekend in Oscoda and plan on stopping by this course on my way home on Sunday. If there is a local who wants to play a round with me so i can have a guide that would be great. Im not sure what time i will be passing through but we can figure that out latter.

Mark, we're glad you made it back and enjoyed the improvements. Ron works hard making the course one of the best. I'll let him know that you were there, he'll be sad that he missed you.

Tuesday night leagues still going??

Craig Prime   August 16 at 6:43am

Junior, There has been a couple of people coming every Tuesday but from what I hear, this really isn't league play, just something close to what you would expect. a guy named Clark was making the attempt to run a league, I suggest that you contact him, ask why nothing is ever posted or if there is a real league playing. As of August, 2014 the grass fairways have been well groomed several times and wooded hole fairways are quite clear of everything aside from the remaining stumps and toe stubs. Be careful and when playing, feel free to pick up some sticks, tossing them as far off the fairways as possible. The donations raised for tee pads is nearing $500.00, any predictions on when they'll start going in ?

new tee signs and arrows pointing players to the next tee were installed last weekend, although how Ron keeps the course cut, it's easy to follow. enjoy the course

this course is worth the journey. natural tee pads and no elevation but aside from that, the course is very unique and first class.

definately an excellent course off the beaten path.

Craig Prime    June 3, 2014 at 6:17am

course UPDATE - June 1st and the course was freshly cut through hole Nine. The wooded holes are still needing some weed whacking throughout the fairways but it is VERY playable. Grounds Keeper Ron says that holes 1 - 9 are Whimbledon quality (if tennis can equate to disc golf) . Bring your bug spray, the skeeters will carry you away once in the woods.

Played decent today on 17 holes. The entrance is pretty muddy. Holes 1 and 2 are pretty wet and unplayable. Hole 3 has a bit of water down the fairway but is playable. Holes 4-16 are pretty decent. Holes 17, 18, and 19 have a couple puddles but are playable. Hole 20 is unplayable. It looks like more rain may be on the way though!

Old Airport Disc Golf Course - AuGres, Michigan´╗┐ has posted "NO DISC GOLF" throughout rifle deer season. Be careful players, stay clear. This land has a history of seeing hunters; if not within, often very near some of the holes. The best idea is to not play when there is a chance that a scope may be aiming somewhere near you or your disc.

Grand Opening planned Monday, September 23rd at 5:00 prior to the City of AuGres's monthly council meeting. It would be great to have as many disc golfer show up as possible to demo some of your championship level skills. The city manager told me that they are planning on having some hot dogs on hand and may take a walking tour around some of the course. Plan on a random draw doubles round, probably starting by 6:00. call me with any questions, donations or if anyone wants to carpool.

In planning a vacation to Tawas Point State Park last week, I called East Tawas Chamber of Commerce to ask if there was a local disc golf course. The very nice woman on the phone responded by asking "what is disc golf?" Fortunately, a friend recommended this website and I found this fantastic course: Old Airport DGC in Au Gras. Someone has put in ALLOT of TLC to grooming, marking and the overall layout of this course. It has a great mix of short dog legs, rolling meadows (not unlike Sc ... more

Ron Peludat designer and keeper for 13 years. Thanks for the great comments...

Craig Prime    July 16, 2013 at 8:20am

UPDATE - Ron has temporary markers out directing play. You'll need to look for the small contractor stakes, most will have the little plastic flags alongside as well to help with viability. It is looking AWESOME ! Holes 1 -9 are super easy to follow and 10, 11, 12 & 13 fairly easy to follow. The last 5 1/2 holes that still need some major clearing, 14 through 19 are for the adventurous. Once leaving hole 19, players come back out of the woods to the old airstrip and old hole 18, now f ... more
