Possibly running dubs working on what day now

Soon as I figure out if I can get a constant day off if any, if anyone can help out that would be swell. Our next tournament is now dependent on what is going on with a ball golf driving range that the park depo plans to install for extra revenue eliminating the use of holes 12-15 during ball golf.

When the baskets get moved four more sleeves need installed (absolutely won't happen till this is done) and the kick boards (donated from the summit dg club, thank you) or some more of the tee pads get done. Maybe spring or summer that event will if we can afford it be a b tier with long and short tees playable. Didn't see many aces at the foot this year from club members so we still have lots of ace tags left. Get a ace at the foot and let me know. You don't have to be current member just a zeppelin member at some time with the hopes that you decide to support us in the future. (the ace tag started around here when the dover dg club started the zeppelins adopted a similar concept for fun, thx dover tcdga.)

Pre holiday updates

The park is going to match our donation for tee pads so this means more will get done at one time.
Work for this is scheduled around february and early march please help if you can, shovels and wheelbarrows needed.
wednesday the fifth the longs and shorts will be playable for the most part. Please play them and give your opinions.
Our participation in this years frozen fingers tour has been canceled due to scheduling issues. Possibly next year...
Don't forget our third annual hangover at the hanger doubles tournament on january 6, 2013 pdga c tier.

This grand course should encompass all of wingfoot except the wildlife side near hole five. The course will also be temporary permanent meaning we will undo the hanger course baskets and lock them in the big course positio ... more

big thanks to...

Kevin wilsterman for coming out and helping in the heat we did about three hours of work. Removed the form on hole one, long tee painted for 12 moved 12 tee sign painted short tee on concrete. Hole 13 has a long painted on pavement, hole two short has a painted tee pad on pavement and tee sign moved, we cleared out two long. Trimmed three long which will be named the "tree top flyer" and marked the area for teeing. Still a massive amount of stuff to do so any help is always appreciated. More work when I can spare the time.

August 4 th around 430 ish we should be working on 10, 14, 15, 16 teeing areas. Yes we will be moving the disc chargers on 14 to a more suitable location.

red, white and ?

we get some longer, some more technical and some minor course revisions. Our course is a beginner friendly course so it has been decided that we sleeve a few holes to alter the course a bit so people starting out can finish a whole round without shipping the water holes, Also glow rounds will be able to be fully scored. The water will still be in play but for the white tees which they will be marked soon so all can play. We are also gearing up to concrete a few holes which include, 10, 14, 15 and 16. Don't fret we will be able to go back to old school with the course every know and then.

Tag rounds for any zeppelin that wants to participate. The elusive # 1 tag has been found and belongs to frank lyons the rest move down accordingly. To challenge for one you must be a member of the zeppelins and be playing the same tees as the number one holder. Tags will be for sale look me up. Players who play other tees will have those tags available # 2 is in immediate so it will be available.

Title of the post hole one now has some changes thanks to the zeppelin

Hole one now has a glorious ten foot trapezoid concrete tee pad. This is one of the first at the hanger disc golf course and a proud moment in disc golf. Fully funded by the growing wingfoot zeppelin club. Oh we also installed a bench which came from the ohio state park department, we moved the tee sign and installed our pipe safe for donations, which all go back into the course. We would like to thanks jerry and the other ohio state park members that helped us with water and dug out the area ... more

I couldn't talk them into helping hand mix the 27 eighty lbs bags of quick concrete we used to make the pad. So it was john stutz, milkshake and myself for the day. It takes about five days for the concrete to cure so it should be ready just before our glow event on the 19th.

Tag tournaments at the foot's hanger disc golf course

While our tag rounds can be played at any course with any wingfoot member that has a tag. We will also be having a couple tag tournaments with rated rounds $ 2 optional $ 1 ace fund. Outsiders that don't wish to purchase a tag bit still would like to join in may do so by paying $ 5 or bringing a used disc and two bucks plus the optional dollar for the ace fund. (all used plastic is donated to the wingfoot lake state park as loaner discs for visitors at the canteen) thanks

Our pdga doubles event on the first of january will be the beginning of our winter fundraiser to benefit the tee pads for spring which we hope to get rolling on. We will have a series of strange events all doubles four in total first sanctioned the next three none sanctioned. First pdga best shot ($ 50 all divisions), second event putter only ($ 25 all divisions), third worst shot($ 25), fourth best score ($ 25). I'd like to see people represent from each area, the best shooting and represented area will take a nice glass trophy home for their respective area. Please try to find a partner to stick with for all the events. Points will be one for each group you beat in your division. area points are one for each group of people that show up from that area, one extra point if your group/area dominates the field. lets see who has the most skilled players. the area TROPHIES will be given out at our spring pdga event which will be a glow tournament. (pdga legal glow discs) where that area will be recognized as badazz disc golfers. Pay outs will be like normal. Need a partner post up.

Shirts are at big kahuna in canton they are to booked up to have our shirts done for the Haunt so we are really hoping to distribute the shirts at the Parma Frozen Toes Two event.

we got the proposed long tees painted sunday.there are painted directional arrows to the next tee along with painted tee boxes.2's long is behind the pine tree row(one of our favorites). a little rearranging to do on 5,6,7.come out and give them a try while the paints fresh and let us know what you think.

we will have a tag event date is unknown at this time, we are taking things slowly for now. 15 tags out there now thanks to the people that paid in advance you all will be getting dri fit type custom club tee shirts with some sponsor logos included as well. Those shirts are limited to the first 20 people yes that's right 20 that leaves 5 more people able to get in on the dri fit shirt deal. Our next shirts will be plain cotton. We are also looking for some original designs for logos on tees and minis.

Wingfoot Zeppelins first PDGA event

We would like to thanks the Ohio State Park Department for allowing us the privilege to use the Pine Lodge at Wingfoot Lake State Park the roominess and fireplaces at each end where an added bonus as well as the sound system. The Pine Lodge is the perfect place to host any event. We had 33 people 5 pro/open players the rest AM's two aces where hit by Pittsburgh Flying Disc Society Scott Hartle on hole 4 and Canton, Ben Schreckengost a 300+' shot on hole 6 congrats to you both. Both pros where from Massillon Kevin Whitlock of ZW Photo won Open Masters and Dan Davis won open, dont fall off your seat people yes i said Dan Dynamite Davis won a open PDGA event didn't matter to Dan who was there or how much cash he won you could tell in his eyes it was like winning 25,000 congrats to both Open players 2011 maybe your years. Ryan Banks from Wooster set the pace in AM1 while Team Just Disc Golf and SCDGA member Thomas Milkshake Randau AKA 4LOCOBELL took home the win in AM2 (the intermediate division) The wingfoot zeppelins treasurer James MOOSE Graham got his first PDGA victory as a recreational player in AM3 division, way to go MOOSE!!! The wingfoot course seem to play fast for the event, we got some good feedback on the event through the PDGA evaluation form. Thanks without your comments or concerns we can not get better. We are glad that everyone had fun.

We did a ton of work to clean up lines and greens on the 16th, so now its time to tackle the task of moving tee signs. This is no easy task, and the more manpower we can get the better! We are in the process of finalizing the club's charter and we've established a strong connection with the Department of Parks and Recreation. They are essentially giving us carte blanche to do as we please with this course, including adding additional pin placements and holes. We've got many exciting plans for the course! But, before we can set those into motion, we need to establis ... more

It took some doing, but we've definitely laid a strong foundation for a new disc golf club at Wingfoot State Park. We are in the process of finalizing the club's charter and we've established a strong connection with the Department of Parks and Recreation. They are essentially giving us carte blanche to do as we please with this course, including adding additional pin placements and holes. We've got many exciting plans for the course! But, before we can set those into motion, we need to establish a membership base.

So, to get the ball rolling, we are offering club memberships free of charge. These free memberships will be valid until March of 2011, when we will host our inaugural season-opening event, which will repeat on a yearly basis. We want the disc golf community to have a say in how things are run in this club and to work together to make the Zeppelins an amazing organization.

Here are the highlights of the Zeppelin's charter:

~ Yearly Season Opening Events. Memberships will need to be renewed at or after each of these events.
~ Monthly Meeting: Each month, the club will have a members-only event, that will be followed by a club meeting. At these meetings, each officer will be expected to make a report, and crucial information regarding club activities will be shared. This will also be a chance for members to speak their minds, and have input regarding club activities.
~ End of the Year Events
~ Two Membership Tiers:
~ Standard Tier: Bag Tag Challenge, monthly members-only events, a vote in club elections, intimate involvement in club related decisions and activities, entry fee discounts into tournaments at Wingfoot, and merchandise specials (not available with free membership).
~ Premium Tier: All Standard Tier benefits, plus customized club apparel, such as mini discs, hats, t-shirts, fly-dry polos, and golf towels.
~ Course Improvement: The Zeppelins are not making money for our organization, but rather for our courses. Our goal is to have all the bells and whistles at Wingfoot. Multiple pin placements, concrete tees, quality tee signs, benches and the most well-manicured course around. Plus, there's a ton of unused space at that park...who knows what we could do with that ;)

Also, if you have an interest in being involved in the club in a leadership roll, please let me know! We'd like to find two more people willing to assist with course maintenance and keeping track of the club roster.

On a personal note:
I am thrilled to be a part of getting this off the ground, but Jay Kovach was the one who did the behind-the-scenes work with Parks and Rec. He's done a great deal to get this thing off the ground. Thanks a bunch Jay!

Also, there is MUCH work to be done. We've barely gotten the ball rolling. It will take a community effort to make this work. A club is only as strong as its members. This club doesn't exists to serve the individual, but the community as a whole. Please be patient while we make things happen. Its takes time and effort. Don't be part of the problem. If you want something done, help to get it done. We will accomplish so much more by working together as a community!
