Ferries to/from Nantucket
All major ferries to Nantucket from the mainland leave from Hyannis, MA. Though seats are usually available for purchase at the dock, reservations are recommended. The two ferry companies that provide this service are:
HY-LINE CRUISES
220 Ocean Street, Hyannis, MA 02601
800-492-8082
Hy-Line Fast Ferry - 1 hour
$47 one-way/$87 round-trip
Bicycles $7 each way
STEAMSHIP AUTHORITY
69 South Street, Hyannis, MA, 02601
508-477-8600
Steamship Fast Ferry - 1 hour
$39.50 one-way/$75 round-trip
Bicycles $7 each way
Steamship Slow Ferry - 2 hours & 15 minutes
$19.50 one-way/$39 round-trip
Bicycles $7 each way
Vehicles: $275 each way/$550 round-trip
For those coming over to Nantucket the morning of your tournament, please be aware that the ONLY ferry that will get you to the island in time for your tournament on either day is the 6:10 AM Hy-Line Fast Ferry. Free transportation to the course via private vehicles will be provided to those arriving on Nantucket on this ferry at 7:10 AM on both Saturday and Sunday mornings.
For those wishing to bring their vehicle with them to Nantucket, please be aware that this is, unfortunately, very costly and difficult to do. To start, the Steamship Authority Slow Ferry is the only ferry that can accommodate passengers with vehicles. The cost to bring a vehicle to the island on this ferry is $550 round-trip during September and vehicle availability for weekends during this time is usually very limited, unless booked well in advance. All this said, we encourage those coming over to the tournament to leave their vehicles at the ferry lots in Hyannis and take either public transportation to the course/campsite/lodging or the tournament-provided free transportation from the Hy-Line ferry terminal to the course on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Returning to the Nantucket ferry terminals after the tournament
Historically, the awards ceremony ends around 6:45pm-7:15pm, however ending times have fluctuated a bit in the past.
Here is the ferry schedule after the tournament:
7:05pm Hy-Line fast ferry
8pm Steamship Authority traditional (slow) ferry
8:45pm Steamship Authority fast ferry
I would recommend planning to take the 8pm or 8:45pm ferry, but you're welcome to try and make the 7:05pm ferry if you wish.
Lodging
The hostel on island has closed permanently and, unfortunately, at this point, we have not been able to find anyone on island that can offer us a place to camp, so if you register for the tournament, please do so under the assumption that you will either a) be able to find and secure your own accommodations on island for the tournament or b) simply be coming over to the island the morning of your tournament on the 6:10 am Hy-Line ferry from Hyannis and returning to the mainland at the conclusion of the tournament.
There are unfortunately very few reasonably-priced accommodations available on the island in September (prices for hotel rooms start at about $300/night), however Nantucket Visitor Services (508-228-0925) might be able to help you locate a lower-cost option at a Bed & Breakfast. You can also check on prices and availability for many Nantucket Bed & Breakfasts at http://nantucketlodging.org. Finally, booking an island home on Airbnb or VRBO for a group might also be a relatively economical option.
There are some fairly reasonable lodging options available not only in Hyannis, but very close to the ferry terminals there, so staying in Hyannis the night before your tournament and walking over to the ferry terminal in the the morning might work well for some.
CAMPING (NEW!)
A limited number of camping spots are available for Friday and Saturday nights...
- Campsite is in the side yard of a private home (same place as last year)
- $20 pays for a spot of land on which to pitch your own tent that you bring
- Maximum of 2 people per tent
- 10 spots available
- Check-In is at 10am on Friday and Saturday & Check-Out is at 9am on Saturday and Sunday (on Saturday and Sunday mornings, you can bring your tent & belongings to Tournament Headquarters by teepad #16 and leave them there)
- Campsite is a two-minute walk from the fairway of hole #6 at the course
- Primitive camping - a porta-potty, water hose and a grill will be provided
- No access to the home will be provided
Tournament Day Luggage Storage
Though Nantucket Disc Golf does not have a secure storage area at the course, you may leave your bags, camping equipment, and other personal items next to us at the tournament headquarters' tent next to teepad #16 during your tournament rounds and we'll do our best to look after it.
