I'm getting really frustrated with this league. It used to be a ton of fun but now its getting to be unbearable between holes. I know youve mentioned that cards should be no bigger than 6 people. It didn't work just mentioning it. It's not difficult to play with 5 other people. Im sure I'm not the only person who doesn't like waiting for 2 or 3 or even 4 groups to tee off in front of me before my card gets to. I saw at least 5 groups of 8 or more people and its getting to be ridiculous. There needs to be a consequence for not following the rules. You have 8 people in your group, that's 2 strokes for each person. 10 people, 4 strokes and so forth. For every person in a group over the limit there should be a stroke for everyone on the card. Am I alone is seeing how annoying and frustrating this is?
The way that we talked about it on our card is that if cards were to split a group of 8 down to two groups of 4, you will be waitng close to the same amount of time as a group of 8. I fully agree with you that the waiting does get ridiculous when it comes to certain holes. We had a group of 9 and we ... more

Although not everyone is at the same speed, it does still make for a LONG night for sure.
Curious? How many groups actually listen to Dan when he talks before the weekly play? How many groups are there but talking to one another? How many groups are out at their holes before we break from the pavillion? I think the answer lies within...
i think you all just need to come out with a 6 pack (lets be honest a 12 pack) a seat and just smile.with all those people playing in one league at one time I'm surprised it didn't take longer.
I have to say that we really were only held up on a few holes and thought play has moved along at a decent, not great, but decent pace. It does put a smile on my face to see mob golf like we have it from Square Lake Road (holes 4 and 5) as far north as my old eyes can see. So many good people among our Metro D family. And yes Doug, maybe a 12 is worthy :-) !
Maybe we need to start limiting league night then? Adding strokes ins't the way to solve it Ryan. Face it, the course can't handle the amount of people we bring to leagues on any given night. Maybe you could create another league on another night an run it? I think most people show up expecting a 3 hour round, and don't care. They are there to have fun.
well you clearly have never been behind bernies group on top of another group of 9 and then add another group of 9 in front of that. its getting ridiculous. and why isnt forcing a stroke penalty for having a group bigger than the group size rule that the people that run the league create? why is it ... more

well ppl come out to play with their friend and dont want to split groups i know my brothers come out to play with us and not anyone else. and this has been goin on since ive started playing. when u come to monday nite leagues expect a wait on a few holes.u no how it is
Do the math Ryan, you just can't do it. We had easy 100 guys out there. 18 x 6 = 108. so any time that there is over 108 ppl (which is prolly quite often if you check the books), you expect the cards that bring on the extras to take stroke penalties? That doesn't make sense. I for one know ... more

That doesn't make sense. I for one know we have split out group before, and had a card of 5 and a card of 4...we were still waiting the same amount of time on every hole. what if our group sent over 5 ppl to yours, and now you had 7...would you take the stroke penalties that you want to enforce? I'll come play with you then, and do my part to shrink our group by 1. But it really isn't gonna change anything unless Dan and John cap the league. And what if the ace pool rolls for a few weeks? then you have guys coming out who don't normally play. Where will they go? you could wind up with every card out there taking your penalty strokes.
ryan, mondays are what they are and that will not change. either gotta deal with it, or change up your league nite, and thats exactly what i did.
why not move the leauge to a 27 hole course?
Start time is at 6 pm. We already finish in the dark the 1st and last 4 weeks of the season. A bigger course would require an earlier start time. Even if we added the 6 holes at FF, we would still need to start earlier.
I have to side with Ryan on this one. It's frustrating to see groups of 7-8 and then a group of 4-5. Some people care more about socializing than they do about trying to help the course flow. It would help maintain a nice rhythm if we quashed the large groups. I have no problem with adding ... more

It would help maintain a nice rhythm if we quashed the large groups. I have no problem with adding strokes to scores when there are more than 6 on a card. Also, those one or two folks that get squeezed in at the bottom are harder to read and total for those who stay at the end when everyone else has left. I'm not saying you can't socialize and hang with your friends, but draw the line at 6. If you wann switch up who you play with, mix it upi within your group a bit, or schedule a round some other time. Quite honestly, I think it's a bit selfish and inconsiderate. Just my $0,02 worth...
As for accomodating more than 108 players 108, that's why there's two groups that start on holes like 1 and 10. Balancing the number of plaers on a card would help all the groups move at a more even pace, and while there will still be backups on 3, 11, and 18, there would be less waiting time overall, and things would move at a more consistent pace.
its a beer league where ppl go to enjoy the company of friends, bring a chair and a cooler and relax for a change. no matter what is said this is the 24th year of this league and i
dont believe complaining will do anything but stir up drama, which is quite unnecessary
Just chill out and enjoy the game
And try to win the Super Pool...
^^^^^^ couldnt say it better myself^^^^^^^^^^

My 2 cents: Why do we play disc golf? TO HAVE FUN! Why are the rules made how they are? To support the general public and make it overall fun! If you have a real suggestion to improve the play, why not take it upon yourself to ask the league administrators privately instead of causing a ruckuss on a social media site? The administrators are trying to make sure everyone has fun. If you still have problems with this league and aren't having fun, DONT COME. What I see here is far to much confrontation. Setting a cap on the league is a good suggestion. I'd also suggest a change in rules (time alloted per shot, stroke penalty) to make it flow better. Apollogies if I am beating a dead horse here, just trying to help.
hey ben have u even came out to mo day leagues at fire fighters?
I have never had the chance. I live 45 mins away and have had a very busy schedule with work and school. I know how the league works though. I was merely making suggestions. I have run leagues myself too. This Waterford area needs direction for a local group of decent disc golfers. I will be attending this league every once in a while though.
well when u get a hundred plus ppl playing gets a lil crazy
Believe, me.. I know about party control. I get that it's crazy, but mostly fun crazy! I'll be talking to John soon.
