Just tossing out an idea...
If the drawing order of the chips determined both your partner ( #1 goes with #2) as well as your group ( team 1&2 plays with team 3&4) it would make for a more diverse social mix. The way it is done now we pick our own playing groups, so we end up playing with our friends ( which is fine, of course) but we don't meet as many of the other league players as we otherwise would. There is a small issue of possible collusion but a bigger issue of the beginning players being exposed less often to the more experienced players.

Beginners are mostly donators in a league like this. One of the draws for them is being exposed to good players and learning from them. The top players will always want to play with other top players but they get to do that all the time in tournaments and in casual play.
