Unfortunately, Anchorage Parks and Recreation (P&R) is forcing us to close the course for two weeks during "Break Up" time. The estimated date of reopening is the first week of May. This is coming from the parks superintendent, not me. I am merely the messenger.

This Friday, April 15, 2011 at 11 am, myself, and a P&R crew and whoever is willing and able to help will be removing the baskets. The baskets will be stored and secured by Parks and Recreation until they can be replaced in a couple of weeks.

It is with a heavy heart that I bring this news, but it was out of my control. I would rather do without a park for a couple and allow the ground to dry out a little than have the course turn into a mud pit, which is what P&R is concerned with. I know all of you likely have comments and concerns, but this is not a discussion topic. It is P&R's final decision.

Please if you are off work, on lunch and able to attend I would appreciate your help getting these pulled. I am doing this on my own lunch hour and would appreciate any and all assistance. I appreciate your understanding with this issue and volunteering to help.

Louie - Could you please post that the course is temporarily closed on the ADGA website. Thanks! I will post this on Disc Golf Scene.

Matt Forney
