Doubles shifting to Saturday

I was out at Montiel Monday night and found that Todd and Mike had called off doubles because of low attendance and diminishing light.

We'll start up Saturday doubles this week - 10am! I'll be setting up a new league page on this site.

Montiel Ace Race Sat. October 17th - SIGN UP NOW!!!

Time for another slightly annoying reminder to sign up in advance for the Montiel Park Ace Race, being held on Saturday October 17th. Last year's event was a big success and allowed us to get rubber tee pads installed for six of the alternate tees on the course. This year's tournament is being held to raise funds for the new disc golf course at Cal State University San Marcos. Time for another slightly annoying reminder to sign up in advance for the Montiel Park Ace Race, being held on Saturday October 17th. Last year's event was a big success and allowed us to get rubber tee pads installed for six of the alternate tees on the course. This year's tournament is being held to raise funds for the new disc golf course at Cal State University San Marcos. Because of the well-publicized budget cuts to colleges in California, this course must be paid for with donated funds. Here's a chance to have fun, get some new proto-type discs to try out AND support the installation of more baskets.

Please sign up early - that means NOW!!!!!!!!!! Especially if you want to be sure to get in!!!

In order to get the discs, minis and hats delivered on time I have to make an order to Discraft about two weeks in advance of the event (that would be about October 2nd, for those of you paying attention). The Aces do not want to have extra player packs left over after the event, so there will not be many extra player packs ordered above the number of people pre-registered by October 2nd. Don't delay or you will miss out!!!!

Labor Day Weekend

I'm planning to hold another "World's Biggest Disc Golf Weekend" event at Montiel on Labor Day. Check out the tournament page link on the Montiel course page on this site.We'll be selling the World's biggest discs and the cool Team Rizbee tie-dyed World's Biggest t-shirts, proceeds going to build the newly-approved disc golf course at Cal State San Marcos! The highlight of the day will be the installation of a memorial bench for Daniel Alexander next to Tee#3. San Diego Aces members and any other interested parties can help us install the bench.

Memorial Bench for Daniel Alexander

Daniel's parents will be presenting a request to the City of San Marcos to have a bench installed at Hole #3 in Daniel's memory. There will be a meeting tonight, Wed., July15th @ 6:30pm at the San Marcos City Hall council chambers of the Community Services Commission. It would help to have as many disc golfers as possible to show up for this meeting to lend his family some support. Please be there!!!

Daniel Alexander - we will miss you

On Saturday, July 4th the Montiel Park Disc Golf family lost Daniel. All of the details are not known, but it sounds like he was hit by a stray bullet fired in anger or stupidity by an unknown assailant while at a 4th of July party in Escondido. A senseless loss of a truly nice guy. If you know how to contact Daniel's family, please let me know - I would like to make sure the Montiel disc golfers are represented at any memorial service or tribute held to celebrate our friend.
