Rolling Hills County Park

how did Michigan afford that? i mean that's 65% taxpayer money that could have been spent on some roads that NEED work

I thought the same thing. Are they planning on having something going on there? Why do they need the big round about? And all of that extra parking? I can't ever remember being there with all the parking they had before being full?
Mike Michalak November 21, 2010 at 7:50am
Wow, alot of asphalt, its like a maze getting back to the parking lot

I agree with JD, it would be a shame to lose any of those back nine holes.....15 is probably the hole with the greatest question mark.....Perhaps the tee could be moved closer to that observationsdeck, placing it on flatter area....then stairs could be made.
Jim Daniels November 17, 2010 at 10:26am
Re proposed course changes and/or new holes -- I hope they keep all the back 9 hill holes. Erosion is an issue but paths with swaybacks could easily be built. We have plenty of flat holes in SE MI, let's hang onto all the elevated holes we can, that is what makes RH such a sweet layout!

Hey Shaun, your "round-about" 60 miles away what do you know about "warrants"?
Shaun Adkins November 15, 2010 at 11:06pm
yeah, i dont think the amount of traffic the park has warrants a round-about.
Foz Miller November 15, 2010 at 2:01pm
Course is open - new road - signs not up yet so watch for the new "round about" just inside the booth.

Did you call this number: (734) 484-9676 X0?
I'll probably drive by there Monday and see for myself.
peter kunoff November 12, 2010 at 3:16pm
tried calling the park yesterday to see if they are still on schedule to re-open monday and just got a recording......anyone know if they will be back in business by next week?
PAAAAAUUUUULL Novak November 8, 2010 at 3:22pm
Peter I've been thinking the same thing. Especially becaue Rolling Hills is only 10minutes from my work.
peter kunoff November 8, 2010 at 3:16pm
anyone know if they are still on schedule to open up next week?......you never know how much you miss something until it is gone.....
Scott White October 4, 2010 at 9:07am
Rolling Hills County Park will be temporarily closed for public use from Monday, September 27, 2010 through Saturday, November 14, 2010 due to construction activity on the park road system. During this time, no general public vehicle or pedestrian entry will be permitted.
We anticipate Rolling Hills will re-open for public use on Monday, November 15, 2010.
For more information, please contact Steve Wyatt, Park Superintendent at (734) 484-9676 X 0.

PAAAAAUUUUULL Novak September 30, 2010 at 7:27pm
I was out there last week, and there was some Parks and Rec workers out in the Bush. Looked and sounded like they were clearing the way to add in some new fairways.
Scott White September 30, 2010 at 8:22am
Yes they do want to expand the current course to 24 or 27 holes. So far we (the dg community) have not stepped up to the plate with a volunteer effort to do the redesign. Last I heard Steve W (of RHCP) was going to organize a kick off meeting with interested course designers but as far as I know that has not happened yet. Steve also made it clear that the park has the funding to start right now. Hope that answers your question Ben.
I've seen the new land proposed for the expansion and I think it will be a really nice addition once completed!
peter kunoff September 30, 2010 at 7:01am
Ben, from what little I know.....it is on the agenda to expand the current course. However, I don't think that will happen during the current closure. The park is making a new entrance off merritt road. after that, then the discussion of course expansion will happen. Anyone else in the know care to elaborate? SW? foz?
Trevor, If I am correct....I believe that would all be provided by washtenaw county residents via the millage/tax. The water park certainly provides a lot of traffic.
