Thankfully, no. I saw some loners and some stoners, but no angry wobblers.

We got behind a group of 8-10 casuals, a family. They let us play through and they were obviously having a good time.

I agree 100% Q. My daughter loves to play disc golf and I outright refuse to take her to grand woods because of the 'drunken casuals'.

I was stuck behind a group of 15 last night, again!. All drunk, loud and with a wobbling stares, half confrontational. I had a feeling; while standing with them in the tee area, if the wrong thing was said to them they may become combative. I was by no means afraid of them, or the possible situation that could arise but I would understand how others may have been afraid or intimidated by the group. I keep hearing that we should not be mad at the casuals or that casuals do not actually suck, this group did. For this sport to grow we dont need these types of players to enter the competitive cohort. For the game to grow we need youth to come up which means we need parent involvement. There is no chance of this happening if these types, out number the professional type of player. Parents will not bring, or allow, youth to play this game if they have to stand with groups of players like these. They are a turn off when it comes to growth of the sport. To all of those who say, "we all were once casuals", I was never that guy on or off the course and I am starting to think that many of us, who play competitive disc golf never was. So maybe it should not be said that casuals suck but that
Drunk Casuals Suck!

I think the Casuals suck shirts are in good fun. Everyone's had a round (Playing casual or not) where theirs a group of obnoxious drunks/stoners/or what have you that just hinder your ability to fully enjoy your round. Just like all the shirts at T-shirt hell.. Good humor.

Had women's league at the Woods tonight. I just wanted to say how great the course is looking! Especially hole 13, whoever weeded all the reeds on 13 did an amazing job! It looks like a great hole now! Thanks for all your hard work!

I'm bringing back the "casuals suck" shirts if you want one check with DJ or Q. They should be out and about within the next week or so.

the Huron metro parks out near Detroit area have been slapping the disc golfers with a fee, $2 for a daily walking pass, $50 for an annual. There are still some parks that have the problem of the one disc wonders, and yes there is a touch of a seedy element here and there, but the fees have really helped cut back on casual city. I had a similar experience at Kennsington Metro Park last summer, I will never bring my kid there again unless it's an early morning round. Course is amazing, atmosphere was a killer. Even with the fees, that park seems to attract a poor element of player.

Not sure what the deal was yesterday but there were a lot of ****s and stupid people at the woods yesterday...I know that the park cannot charge people but what about getting county sheriffs to roll into the park every hr or so? It would mosdef cut down on stupid young people who feel the need to drive down a dirt ****ing drive faster than 15mph and stir up a bunch of dust! I love this course but sometimes I really hate the stupid ****head casuals that play there...GRRRRRRR!!!

Anyone that plans on playing in the state championships, if you don't have a Michigan Bag Tag you are missing out on potentially getting your registration cash back as well as other prizes!
If you want to learn how to play better tags are a great way to challenge others better then you so that you can learn from them.

G Money DJ sells disc at Grand Woods, he gets most of his disc from J-Bird tho and yes if the sun is shining DJ is out there!!
gillian van stratt April 24, 2012 at 12:25pm
Haven't been out to g-woods in a few years. Wondering if J-Bird still sells discs out there? If so,do you guys know if he's usually out there every day or when he usually gets there? Thanks in advance, the disc selection in the area shops seems to be in steady decline.
