Went out and measured all the holes today with Mike and Harold and the new distance for the course is 5528 feet from the pro pas and 4977 if you play the 3 am tees.

That's about 500 more feet and 4 more strokes. Most 500 foot holes would be a par 4, so it all makes sense!!

Justin Abram   September 21, 2013 at 2:01pm

Did the pro tee for... 6? get sorted out and moved like there's been talk of?

Matt Dimick   September 21, 2013 at 3:10pm

Not yet. But it's in the works

I'm coming to try Fitzgerald before Open/9.28. Pics of prior layout are presumed outdated..so, I'm hoping to go when other players gather. What's a good day/time to find knowlegable players on the course? BTW - The current pics do show a land and tree environment that ensures good design choices. Given the people involved I'm confident the new layout will intrigue us.

Doug Prizer   September 10, 2013 at 6:01pm

I'll be out there with a group on Thursday after work.

Fred Vocino   September 11, 2013 at 11:05am

Thanks guys..Thurs and Fri are not good for me. I'll get with Jim and post on "play here".

Jim Knudson    September 4, 2013 at 2:19pm

I use and carry 2 less discs in my bag for the new layout. Easier on old guys!

I will do a complete review after playing it a couple more weeks.

I did notice while playing yesterday with the heavy traffic due to Labor Day that hole 5 on Fitz's new layout can be a potential problem due to people grilling out on the picnic tables close to that rock pile. Can we move these tables so it's not on the fairway? I had to alter my upshot because this guy was grilling and just staring at me, and I sure couldn't throw where I wanted to. I guess some people still need to be educated that there are flying objects at that park. Furthermore, on hol ... more

The totally pained expression on Harold's face while he was trying to find a line around the picnic tables was PRICELESS!!

Jim Knudson   September 4, 2013 at 2:09pm

At least there were no bees hiding under the tables.

Mike Spagnuolo   September 4, 2013 at 4:18pm

I have only played the new layout, so I won't have the problem of separating my fondnes for the old design from an objective evaluation. Like, "How do you like that beef?" - "It isn't chicken." I'm on a mission to make ratings more reliable. Weighted for pointed observations about present conditions.

Fred Vocino   September 26 at 11:18am

I will wait to rate until the "makover" is finished. Let the fundraiser and spring 2014 pass- that should be a good time to rate again.

Mike Spagnuolo    August 23, 2013 at 10:56pm

New layout is in place. Follow the white signs and pink paint. Hope everyone likes it.

Matt Dimick    August 14, 2013 at 2:04pm

Holes 17 and 18 are no longer in, They have been moved between current holes 10 and 11. There are signs to point you in the right direction! Hole 2's basket has also been moved back and the new distance on Hole 2 is roughly 542 feet.

I hear you need a map or a local to get around this course. Is this true?

matt are they still gonna reconfigure the course and add cement tee pads??

Matt Rinker   July 7, 2013 at 9:47pm

Yes. We've finalized a layout, now we just need to have the park approve it, then the work will begin. Pads may not happen til next year or the year after. But as long as the park stays on board, pads will happen.

I was looking at the weather to make sure that it wouldn't be muddy. Jim, any chance you would be willing to throw down a little salt on the pads when you play this morning to help with traction?

Jim Knudson   February 16, 2013 at 10:36pm

Played 2 rounds at Fitz today. Since Fitz doesn't have tee pads, just tee off where it's safe on each hole.

Chris Smith   February 17, 2013 at 7:15am

It seems safe here by this basket... Bam! Another ace! Now we know...
