MY FIRST TOURNAMENT ACE??

4.57   1 rating
Wow. What a year of disc golf this has been. After playing six consecutive rounds (and seven rounds out of eight below my rating), I needed a huge confidence booster going into the off-season. playing the Walnut Open on a familiar course seemed the best way to do it. I have historically played well at this course, and it has always been one of my favorites. In round one, I came out hot, and I ended up in 2nd, just one stroke off of the leader. I shot my best round since my very first tournament, and was feeling confident going into round 2. I started my second round with a birdie, but I started to feel the pressure to catch up to the 15-year old leader. On just the third hole of the round, I bogeyed and he birdied, putting me down by three strokes. To make matters worse, my putting fell apart and I missed three C1 putts for birdie and could not get any sort of C2 game together. However, as the round progressed, the leader began to falter and started bleeding strokes due to some brutal breaks, and I began to catch up before eventually tying it up on our seventeenth hole out of nineteen. Even though I caught up to him, neither of us were playing great, and the guy who had started round 2 in 4th place had clawed his way back from a seven-stroke deficit to be one-stroke behind me and the guy who led the entire second round until the eighteenth hole. My round had been weak. My putting was at about 30% C1X, and I was missing my lines by just enough to have me worried about the last two holes. Our hole 18 was a 175-foot par 3 with a very scary 35-foot circle of safety surrounded by hazard. I just watched the guy in second park the hole for a birdie, and I knew that if I did not get close to the basket, I would be looking at a potential two-stroke swing and missing out on a good finish. I step up to the tee feeling really weak in the knees. This shot had to be one of the best of my life...
