WGE - Niagara Women's Global Event

The Women's Global Event (WGE) is an annual celebration of women in disc golf. It is an international tournament played in many countries world-wide, but takes place all on the same two days! This year, I am proud to offer our very first sanctioned WGE event held right here, in Niagara!

If you have never played disc golf before, or just began throwing, a tournament might seem like an impossible or intimidating event. However, the WGE is more about celebrating women's accomplishment in sport, our disc golf journey and getting to meet more female disc golfers than competing. For anyone who has participated in a "fun run", "Foam" or "Mud" event, this will have a similar feel. Your golf score for both rounds will be uploaded along with others from other countries, which may qualify you for international prize packs in your age category or skill level. There will be prizes and trophies awarded at the Niagara level for all age and skill levels, as well as an amazing players pack! The WGE players pack contains 2 discs, a waffle towel, WGE pin, sticker and a mini disc! It's impossible to buy these items for the cost of entry to the event ($35).

In addition to the great players pack, we will also have draws, raffles, and discs available for purchase. Everyone will play one round of disc golf, from the short yellow-bricked tees in the morning and then we will have a 90-minute break for lunch. I have made arrangements with a local cafe willing to provide a sandwich/salad lunch for minimal cost, to be delivered to you at the park should you not want to pack your own and bring it. Water and snacks will also be available throughout the course all day. During the lunch break, Laughter Yoga will be offered as well as rock painting to contribute to our (future) disc golf snake in the park. Following lunch, we will play a second round of disc golf from the same yellow-bricked tees. We will have draws for the prizes and raffles, and a ceremony for the winners of each division.

This event is entirely funded by sponsors in our area. We will have bubble stations and washrooms, music and laughter! I have also arranged some volunteers and spotters to help locate discs and navigate around the course.
