About this tournament

Due to not being able to get this approved by the ODNR in a reasonable time before this event is going to happen, I have decided to cancel this tournament.

Before anyone asks, we are in the Sanctioning process right now. It wasn't done earlier in the year because I wasn't PDGA current due to being out of work for almost 5 months after getting laid off, then I got a job, renewed, and the madness hit, so it didn't make much sense until we knew more.

OK, based on current news as of May 14, 2020, I think this tournament may be a go.

I'm currently leaning toward Tee Times and you will play with the same group both rounds.

Payouts and/or Player Packs are still an unknown.

I'm also unsure if I'll need to keep a low cap on the number of players or not. I could very well see this being limited to 50 players.

Health Director Amy Acton extended some stay at home order until July 1st. I think the odds of this tournament being sanctioned are very small. Hopefully it happens, truly, but it just seems unfortunately unlikely.

I'm not sure where you are getting that? May 26th non/low contact sports leagues are allowed to start. It my understand that the Ohio PDGA coordinator has indicated we will be able to sanction tournaments again after that date.

In fact the PDGA lists Ohio as an Approved region as of 5/26: https://www.pdga.com/tdinfo/resources/covid-19-approved-regions

I still have no idea if this tournament will happen or not. I will hold it if it is allowed, but what payouts and/or players pack will look like is completely up in the air.

This is my though process going forward. I'm going to do cashless preregistration for this tournament, as I don't want to have to do refunds if it is canceled.

I'm just going to say right now that ALL divisions (Yes, including Open) will be a $30 entry fee. It may be trophy only, it may be a players p ... more

You're the Best. I'm in MA40. 12405. I'll do it official tomorrow if you want.

Scott Williams   April 30, 2020 at 7:50pm

I'm going to handle everything manually.

The "stay at home" order has just been extended to May 1st. I'm very concerned that this may not be able to happen. Depending on when restrictions are lifted, I'm not sure I will be able to get a players pack in time for the event.

Thank you for all your efforts! Is there anything definite at this time?

Scott Williams   April 22, 2020 at 2:52am

No, there isn't. I'm going to hold out until the last minute. The State and Park system will be the guide, and we'll see if the PDGA comes along or not.
