Moving on to 2023!

Welcome to the first event of the year for the Salt Lake City Tunnel Runners Disc Golf Club! We are proud and honored to host our tag opener once again to kick off a new season.

This event is your chance to join the club and begin benefitting from the value of your membership. Throughout the year, we'll host our $12 c-tier events where you can win trophy pins, collect a $10 voucher to Play It Again Sports (all amateur registrants), get PDGA rated rounds, and earn points for the points series.

Let me remind you that this event will be your first opportunity to earn points for the series and there are a lot of points up for grabs. The series went very well last year, and I'm hoping for even more competition at the top this time around.

Registration for this event pays for your 2023 Tunnel Runners membership. If you have already paid your 2023 dues, you will be provided a discount code. (We keep a list)

Format: Singles play. One round. Tee times.

Prizes:

AMs will play for tags and a trophy pin. Pros will play for tags, cash, and a trophy pin. Ties for first place in each division will result in split prizes, due to COVID and single-round precautions. Each player in a tie for first place will receive a trophy pin and 50% of any winnings (in the case of pro cash). This method has been approved by the PDGA for this event.

Juniors will be able to compete at this event for a trophy pin, but they will not be assigned a Junior Tag. The tag opener for juniors will be in the spring. You will have the option to pay for full membership for your junior ($20) if desired, and they will get an adult tag at this event.

Tags:

Tags are a bit tricky with this many players at 2 courses and tee times to boot. The most fair method we've come up with is to give each card a set of tags and let them assign the order at the end of the round. Each card will be allotted a couple good tags and a couple not-so-good tags following a simple method. Ties for tags will be determined by group consensus (alphabetically, age, femur length, etc).

The top 10 Tags will be held at the club house. The 5 lowest scores at each courses will earn the best 10 tags. These will be available to exchange during disc returns and at Sunday School sign ups. If the 1-10 tags are not picked up they will go back into general rotation on February 27th.

Ace Pot:

There is a tournament ace pot ($2) that is offered for each course. If the ace is not hit at one or both courses, the pot will be pushed to the next club XC-tier event.
The super-ace can be claimed at either course and will be split in the case of multiple aces.

Important Note for players under 13

Participants under 13 years of age, per the PDGA Competition Manual for Disc Golf Events. Any player younger than 13 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian regardless of the division they play in. A single parent or guardian may be responsible for multiple junior players in the same group if agreed upon by all of the parents/guardians prior to the start of the round.
