Disc golf singles tournament
About this tournament
Out of 229 Ice Bowl events around the world last year, we raised the NINTH most money of any club totaling $6000 !!! In addition we gathered 3570 lbs of food !!! All delivered to the Capuchin Soup Kitchen on MLK day.
We've been collecting donations throughout the year but it's going to take a big push to reach $6000 again. So far this year we have raised $3267.00 and we are right at last year's pace so it can be done.
Players can bring in non-perishable food items to donate.
Players will receive a raffle ticket for every five cans of food brought in (limit 10 tix).
The player that brings the most canned food will win a special prize.
We will also take in cash donations.
Players will receive a raffle ticket for every $10 they raise (limit 10 tix).
The player who brings in the largest cash donation will also win a special prize.
Last year Derek Michalak raised $540 and was by far the one who raised the biggest monetary donation. Derek, along with many others raised funds via our donation form found here:
If someone surpasses Derek's $540 from 2012 they will win a special prize over and above the normal prizes stated above. Yes, you can consider this a bounty!
To feed the players, we will be featuring the 3rd annual FREEZEBEE CHILI COOK-OFF !
Bring a pot of chili, and if it's voted the best, you'll win a special prize!
If you are not a fan favorite of H O T chili, stay away from Jeff Schropp's homemade fire-breathing-inferno-flaming-nuclear-meltdown.
$5 Mulligans will be available for purchase. The max for Pro's is 3, and the max for AM's is 7. less

MCCG Ice Bowl....I am offering up my own personal $50 bounty to one person that can beat my $540 and is the highest cash contributor at this years Motor City Chain Gangs Ice Bowl event. If I exceed the $540 and win again then I will give that $50 to the Capuchin Soup Kitchen on top of my regular $20 donation. I have won the highest cash donation the last three years starting with my first Ice Bowl in 2010 with $144, then 2011 with $330 and 2012 with $540. This isn't hard to do and any on ... more

I have won the highest cash donation the last three years starting with my first Ice Bowl in 2010 with $144, then 2011 with $330 and 2012 with $540. This isn't hard to do and any one of you can do better then this. All I do is send out one email and then a reminder email as it gets closer to the event, that's it. I do not go door to door or even take the pledge sheets to holiday parties. I do very little and I was still able to collect and contribute $540 last year.
This is also a way to get the word out about disc golf. So many people have no idea what we do or what our baskets are actually used for. Help spread the word and help a good cause. Last year MCCG raised $6,000 for the kitchen and looking at this years figures so far it's going to be really hard to exceed that if no one else helps contribute.
Don't just think of this as a tournament in the snow or cold ass weather. Think of this as a time to help those less fortunate.
Just about everyone of you can beat me on the course but can you beat me at this???? BRING IT!!!
If you want a copy of my email that I send please PM me your email address and i'll forwrad you a copy.
Also if you don't want to contribute by supplying a cash or food donation. Bring some good plastic to the event for the raffel that you just have laying around. The better stuff in the raffel the more tickets people will buy trying to obtain those items.
One last note....I sent out my email just before typing this up and already have $50 in pledges. See it's that easy.

There are a few non-meat eaters so YES, Veggie Chili would be awesome! Plus, having multiple Veggie Chili's to choose from would be a cool contest too!

I have updated the "About" section on this events Home page.
Historically, the donations of discs and disc golf related items by you players has been pretty huge making the prizes even nicer at the end of the day. There will be lots of prizes to win for the actual disc golf tourney, most cash raised, most food donated, and yes, the BEST chili.
Here is a link to the Pledge sheet you can use to help raise funds:
Have all checks made out to the Detroit Capuchin Soup Kitchen.
