Ok, as we are sitting a few days away from the event, Cheryl and I wanted to get out some important info for the tournament.

Good evening everyone!

Ok, as we are sitting a few days away from the event, Cheryl and I wanted to get out some important info for the tournament.

First, let's address the snow. I will be going out and clearing off the tee pads. Between then and the event, it's possible that it might flurry or get icy. We will allow you to tee off next to the tee pad (right or left) if you feel it is a safer way to go. The front of the tee pad is still the line of where you need to release your disc from.

Next, you are allowed, per PDGA rules, to tape a ribbon or string (at least 2 feet usually) to your disc, and/or use chalk to mark your disc to find when it hits the snow. Please realize, there is 8+ inches of snow all over the course. There will be foot marks all over the place (hopefully in the fairway) making it hard to see where discs land and slide. It is highly recommended that you use one of the two methods of marking your discs. Please don't be the person who brings white discs and requires your group to find your discs often because you weren't prepared, and subsequently backing up the whole field. Yes, I'm trying to use a little humor, but please be prepared.

In regards to lost discs. On holes that have blind tee shots or anything of concern off the tee, it might be wise to have a spotter. Please remember that per PDGA guidelines, a group has 3 minutes to search for a disc before deeming it lost. The time starts as soon as everyone starts looking. If a disc is lost, a re-tee or re-throw from spot of previous shot is required with a stroke penalty. With the use of chalk and ribbons/string this should hopefully be minimal.

We have had over 20 people withdraw or shift their registration to another one of the Winter Classics. We will allow that to anyone until Thursday at 3p. At that time, the goal is for the tee times to be finalized. Even though that is the goal, inevitably someone will withdraw on Friday. So please check again Friday night. There should not be any major shifts for anyone.

As far as the course layouts go. The following will be used. We are just playing the main 18 holes.

MPO/MP40/MA1 - Blue Tees primarily except for holes 12/15/16. The only OB is on hole #6 if you go in the creek on the right. So surrounded by water or over the creek. There are a few holes with multiple baskets. This group will play 3A, 14D, 16B, and 18C. I also wanted to remind everyone that due to the blue layout and longer holes, there is an "Eagle Fund" that is $5. If you get an Eagle you win the pot or split it with anyone else who gets an Eagle. Obviously an Ace is an Eagle, but holes 8, 11, 14, 16, and 18 are listed as par 4s, so good luck on them.

All other divisions - Red Tees and will play the "alternate" flow of Osage Grove holes 13-16. That means you will play 13, then 15, then 14, then 16. The only OB is hole #6 if you go in the creek on the right. So surrounded by water or over the creek. There are a few holes with multiple baskets. This group will play 3A, 14A, 16B, and 18C. Holes 16 and 18 are par 4's.

To check in, Cheryl or I (or both) will be sitting in a Blue Ford 150 by hole 1 close to the practice basket. Please check in at least 10 minutes prior to your tee off.

We will be using PDGA live scoring. Please go to pdga.com/score Access code: cold
Per new PDGA guidelines, we will need 2 forms of scoring per group. One will be PDGA live, and the other can be Udisc/Scoring App or paper/pencil.

We are looking forward to a fun event. This will be a memorable day in pretty deep snow. Please be prepared for the cold and the snow.

My tourney in columbus just got postponed due to the cold. Im not scared. I will join the brave ones at Osage Grove.
