About this tournament

We are back with the 2019-2020 Central Ohio Winter Series (C.O.W.S.) This year we will kick the series off in December and it will run until thru March. There will be 6 events in the series this year and the schedule will be as follows:

December 14th, 2019 - Flat Rocks Disc Golf Course, Lancaster, OH
December 29th, 2019 - Jeremy C. Lewis Disc Golf Course, Mt. Sterling, OH
January 11th, 2020 - Kinslow Disc Golf Course, Sunbury, OH
February 2nd, 2020 - Riverview Disc Golf Course, Newark, OH
February 22nd, 2020 - Lobdell Reserve Disc Golf Course, Alexandria, OH
March 15th, 2020 - Gordon Holton Memorial, Delaware, OH

While the series will run the same as the past two years, six events, each event being a two round singles events, we have made some small changes for this year. The first being all divisions are ratings based, see below for the divisions and ratings qualifications:

D1- Gold [Rating 975 & Up]
D2 - Blue [Rating 925-974]
D3 - White [Rating 875-924]
D4 - Red [Rating 825-874]
D5 - Green [Rating 775-824]
D6 - Purple [Rating 774 & Under]

Players that do not have a current rating will play their first event in D4 or above (if your division or level of skill is known). If it is determined that you are in the incorrect division you will be allowed to move to the correct division for the rest of the series.

The points system will also be changing slightly for this year, points will be awarded on your finishing position as opposed to number of players that you beat. I noticed last year you just had to finish in the top at the larger events to win or cash in the series and it made some of the smaller events nearly irrelevant. Points from your top 3 events, plus the finale will count towards your overall total and you must play in at least 3 events to qualify for the point series. Points will be doubled for for the finale. This helps for people who can't make every event as well as the people that do not have a rating as their points may not carry over from their first event if they have to move divisions (points will not transfer between divisions.)

As in the past, ALL divisions will be paid in cash. Entry fee for each event will remain $30 per event. Here is the breakdown of the entry fees:

Entry $30
- $18 to payout (We will payout 40% of the field in each division)
- $9 to fundraiser
- $3 to point series payouts (paying out 40% of the field that played in 3+ events.)

Each event will also have an optional $2 ace fund. The ace fund will roll over to each event until hit. If there is any remaining ace fund after the finale, we will have a throw off for the remainder of the ace fund.

We will play each course from the short tee pads. With it being cold and shorter daylight hours this has always seemed like the best option.
