Birdies for Bailey Fundraiser for Melodie Bailey BYOP Presented by Dip's Discs
About this tournament
Birdies for Bailey is a fundraiser event to help Spokane-based FPO player Melodie Bailey with medical and life expenses as she has been diagnosed with and is undergoing treatment for cancer. Melodie has given much to the sport of disc golf and now it is our joy and privilege to give back to her.
This is a two-round, Bring Your Own Partner (BYOP) doubles event. The event is TROPHY ONLY FOR ALL DIVISIONS. We want to raise as much money as possible for Melodie so we will not be doing payouts for any divisions.
We will have an optional ace pot, cash CTPs and a first and second-round birdie bash with 80% going to players and 20% to Melodie.
Side games will be announced later but may include a putting competition, Long drive, skittles, ring of fire, etc.
In addition to the entry fee and traditional side games, we will offer one other optional side fundraiser. I call it bucks for birdies. How it works is a player or team can pick a team, a hole, a round, a card, or the entire event and pledge to pay any amount per birdie.
Example 1: Player 1 pledges a dollar per birdie made by their team. They birdie 10 holes in round one and 11 holes in round 2. Their total pledge is $21.
Example 2: Player A pledges $3 per birdie on hole 3. 10 Birdies are hit on that hole for the event so Player A's total pledge is $30.
Example 3: Player X pledges 50 cents per birdie for every team in round one. The whole field makes 100 birdies. Player X's total pledge is $50.
Example 4: Player 2 pledges $1 for every birdie for the card they are playing on. The teams on the card birdie 17 holes. Player 2's total pledge is $17.
Example 5: Player Y pledges $1 per birdie made by Team 3. Team 3 makes 22 birdies for the event. Player Y's total pledge is $17
This becomes a game as the person who makes the pledge gets to guess how many birdies will be made by the pledge. i.e. they pledge for birdies on hole 2. if they guess the correct amount they get a prize from Dip's Discs.
If they do not guess correctly they will receive tickets for the raffle based on how close they were. This will be done by a percentage.
Anyone who makes a pledge will receive free tickets to the raffle based on the size of their pledge.
Pledge forms will be available on the day of the event and can be paid with cash at end of event or using Paypal or venmo. All funds will go to Melodie.
Divisions are assigned by combined team rating. If a player does not have a PDGA rating they will be assigned the rating value as follows. If they play or would play in women's divisions in a singles disc golf event then their rating will be calculated as 800 if they play or would play in mixed divisions in a singles disc golf event their rating will be calculated as 900. Any player who is classified as a professional with the PDGA must play in the pro divisions regardless of player rating.
