So I 100% understand the appeal to thick brush and difficulty in a course. But is there any way we can trim a few of the overgrown trees and get this course a bit cleaned up? I had some people walking their dog today approach me asking a bit about the course and about the broken glass. I didn't have a real good answer for them. I love this course, but we could be a bit better about keeping it clean and usable for all.
I mean, even on hole 2 there's a power line that's super close to the ground that should be taken care of.
I'd happily help with all of this if not spearhead it in my spare time. Does anyone know who to contact or if there's a park organization to pitch ideas to?
Or even if my opinions are shared by other people who frequent this course?
It's the county who is supposed to maintain the course. I've been told that to cut anything, we need permission from them. And that powerline has been getting closer every single year...
Hmmm, I mean, that power line is technically a hazard to not only disc golfers, but the power grid it's on and people's houses connected to it. Could we use that as leverage and/or does the Northville county Pn'R association listen to outside concerns?
Based on the graffiti and disfigurement to the tee signs there, I think it’s clear that no one cares about the place. It’s a bad look for the sport and its participants and keeps me from playing there. I wish you luck, though.
That's a real shame, I really like this course, and it's a super nice morning hike. I'll be honest, I'm half tempted to rent some electric equipment and buy some wood chips and sprinkle them through hole 4 at the very least. There's 1000% nothing I can do about that powerlin ... more

I'll be honest, I'm half tempted to rent some electric equipment and buy some wood chips and sprinkle them through hole 4 at the very least. There's 1000% nothing I can do about that powerline alone though. I just emailed the director of public services and am awaiting a reply. At the very least the power line should be taken care of.
It's not regular golfers. It's unsupervised youths that decay the course, thinking someone will get paid to clean up after them. The best we can do is to see something and pickup, making it our own personal responsibility.
And don't go near power lines.
I still think the city should take care of that power line. Would any pros/frequent golfers be opposed to some healthy clearing of the overgrowth and fallen branches in some of the holes? (minus hole 10's fallen branch)
Won't cost the city anything if they close the course I wouldn't press them too hard.
I think you’re right, Joe. Jonah, tactfully appeal to the city about the power line. Try to round up some golfers for the other course maintenance. I’d start by contacting the leagues there. Perhaps league groups or individuals could be assigned a single hole to clean up. If funds are av ... more

Those aforementioned groups/individuals could adopt a hole and get some recognition in the process.
That “power line” is from the lights that were from the lights in the 80’s. they aren’t even contacted to anything but them self.
don’t work and aren’t in the way of anything. we have allot of other issues then that. we are trying to clean the course best we can. allot have changed over the years. and the same crap is happening at all the courses in the area. so don’t think it’s “just at Cass”
That sounds like a plan, I've got a good amount of free time on occasion. Next time I'm there I'll start asking if there's more interest and at the very least attempt to do something about the glass.
Yes.
Soooo Update: I got an email from the county, they're supposedly installing new hole signs for each hole, removing some of the dangerous branches, and have notified the electric company that they need to remove the downed power line, whether or not it's powered or attached to anything.
That’s wonderful! Great to hear.
That's a very good start.
they came and cut up the poles last week. and some other trees that were falling down.
