New 18 hole course North of Original Course @ Rolling Hills - Update

Nov 2018: Lamar started to cement in Basket Collars in preparation for new 18 hole course at Rolling Hills. 18 MVP Black Hole baskets have been in storage since Spring. Crew should be clearing fairways over next few months. I'll post updates as soon as I know if they need help putting the basket together or when they plan to mow or plant baskets. I have re-cleared the walking paths between holes but some areas need mowing and Holes 17&18 needs some fill to smooth out the fairways and remove some standing water. Hole 18 tee pad needs to be finalized and the fairway defined. All basket placements have Orange stakes which are being replaced by Basket Collars.

This course is a mix of woods and tall grass meadows and some apple trees - Not as much elevation as the original course. Tried to maximize the hole lengths mainly in fields and a few Longs in the woods but with existing walking and Mountain bike trails, bird houses its a challenge. The fairways will be cleared more in the next few weeks/months and then played to help finalize them. Tee pads will be Natural for a year to ensure they are in the right place and probably get Tee pads when Indy new holes get their pads.

This course is just North of original course holes 1-5, just on the other side of the maintenance or ski trail. You can walk the paved path between the Labyrinth and the main road to hole #1 or play the Putt Putt 1-10 and then you pop out at hole #18 Basket and you walk up the ski trail about 200', just past the bird house path, to Hole #1 tee pad. When you come off of hole 18 you are right at the maintenance/ski path at Hole #11 of the Labyrinth. Play Hole 11 -18 on the Putt Putt on your way out or walk the paved path back to the parking lot.

This course plays around to the new area of the park next to the little bird pond and then back, going from woods to meadows to woods a few times. There is a nice spot for a chill zone where the walking paths between Holes 3,4,7,8 meet - I call this spot the Cross Roads - you'll pass through here twice during a round. Just past the basket on 12 there is another great spot with beautiful white flowering tree. Another one of those trees at the short tee pad of hole 13.

This proximity to the original course also allows for playing a few holes from each course or easily playing one and then the other if you desire to get more rounds played in a day. For those who find the few big hills on the original course tough on the body you will find this course more enjoyable. There are several interesting nature areas and terrain you walk or play through on this course but it will take a little while for the course to really take shape. Should be some fun Spring play. Fingers crossed. Heck it's only been 12 years in the making so far ;-)

The park will needs to buy 6 more baskets for the A-F on the original Course.

Thank you for your detailed information about the needs for future work and what has been accomplished. I am going on my 4th year working on Littlejohn Lake County Park in Allegan County now. This land here has not been developed
