How many people want new baskets? I think it's time to stop just talking about this and actually replace them. There are way to many spit outs in every basket because these baskets are WAY out of date.
Wait, you think the metroparks are actually going to invest some of the hundreds of thousands of dollars a year they make on pay to play back into disc golf? Good luck with that. We're lucky they even mow the grass every so often.
We will be submitting a list of repairs to the park staff after the tournament this weekend. They have requested a list of what needs repaired, and we said we would get them one. Then, once they have a specific list, we can see what action is taken.
I talked to a gentleman at the office and he said he had guys from discraft out to take a look at the baskets and this dumbass said they are fine and only a couple need some fixing up. Floyd I know you know what I'm talking about. Those baskets are horrible. I'm not asking for X chain bask ...

Floyd I know you know what I'm talking about. Those baskets are horrible. I'm not asking for X chain baskets but I just want baskets that hold a dead center putt. I don't trust them to do anything constructive with the money disc golfers give to those course only because what have they done in the past? New baskets NEED to be at the top top top of that list. Stop wasting money cutting out trees and buy some baskets to better the course
Agree 100%. It's insane to think that such a nice course has such horrible baskets. Too many courses around Michigan are the same way, but it's really time Hudson got fixed up.
Ya I guess so. Or they could take the money that disc golfers give to them all year long and get new baskets. I just think with how many players come out all year long they should be able to afford nice baskets is all
A decent replacement top is $3600 ($3300 cheaper then full basket replacement) for the 18 orginal baskets since the extras are almost 10 years newer and not played as often the primary 18 would be the best upgrade. And the basket tops would save
how do you figure the extra's aren't played as often? haha and they have to be making way more than that in 1 years worth of disc golf pay to play and all the money they're raping tourney TD's for. Let alone all the money they've made over the years that we haven't really seen go into the courses.
I wrote a letter to the park director, Jerry Cyr, a few months ago. He responded to my initial inquiry pretty quickly. Then, once I thought we had a line of communication opened, I asked what the disc golf community can do (short of buying the baskets ourselves) to help make new baskets a reality. A ...

Then, once I thought we had a line of communication opened, I asked what the disc golf community can do (short of buying the baskets ourselves) to help make new baskets a reality. And.... I never heard back again. If anyone is interested in the letter, I still have a copy. You can use the one I wrote as a template and maybe if more people expressed their concerns in a professional manner, we might get somewhere.
If the baskets are going to be replaced they should be done right. If we don't start pushing for top level courses around here everything will always be 10-15yrs dated. Gets some damn Mach x's put in. At least one course in the state could have them.
Had 4 putts chain out on me yesterday. My friend and I were discussing the poor condition of the baskets also. I have subpar eyesight and struggle to locate baskets from the teepads. Just so I'm not misunderstood, I love Hudson Mills. I just dislike the baskets.
All I'm saying about the Mach X's is if people are going to push for new baskets, push for something top of the line. Let the park be the ones that says they are too expensive, and then suggest a cheaper option. It's just the way you gotta negotiate something like that.
The park is chronically broke so I would not expect them to switch out the baskets until they start falling apart. You should direct your request for new baskets to the folks running A3DISC which has historically been the org behind course upgrades and development in the area. Not much spending recently that I've seen so coffers might be full.
Well one thing that is unfortunate is that they never even enforce the pay to play at Hudson. I'm sure they have raked in tons of money from disc golfers through park entrance fees, but I doubt there is any data to prove it.
I wouldn't say never, many times I have seen park employees on the golf cart roll through hole to hole and check. And last Thursday during 6 pm league the park ranger was walking hole to hole collecting from everybody. For me, I buy the yearly Metropark pass and always pay for my disc golf daily pass at the gate upon entry.
There is data to show how much money comes from disc golf. Do some research and write a letter to the park. Show that you care about this more than just a post here or talking about in the parking lot after the round.
I've personally talked to people at the office and they told me that they had people from discraft come inspect the baskets and those ****s told em that the baskets are fine and only a couple need a couple easy fixes. Ya they aren't broke. They're old as dust and don't catch disc ...

Ya they aren't broke. They're old as dust and don't catch discs anymore. They're completely clueless and refuse to put any money towards the courses even though they get tons of money from disc golfers. I'm getting to the point that I'm thinking the only thing that'll make them get new ones is if all the baskets got broken haha. I could never do that but seriously idk what they want
If leaning on the Metroparks yields nothing, why not lean on Discraft? This is supposed to be the premier course in the area, and we have 25+ year old baskets. It's pretty pathetic.
I know I'm a little late to the conversation, but they haven't made less than $33,000 a year in disc golf daily fees plus annual bag tags since at least 2011. I highly doubt the upkeep that is done could cost anywhere close to half of that per year. For anyone curious, the maximum that 54 ...

For anyone curious, the maximum that 54 Mach X's could possibly cost would be $27,000, which would include installation materials and labor. (I think there are 54 total baskets at Hudson)
[raises hand] Me please!
Ummm me! I refuse to play tournaments there anymore because of those raskets. Use the p2p funds and get new baskets!!!

Or maybe just re-do the chains and sure up the joints.

How about some nicely bright colored baskets. Like orange or green

We don't have anywhere close to the kind of money to do this project our next project is pads at waterworks. -a3disc
how is the park broke? What are they doing with all the pay to play money, park entrance fees, yearly passes, and other charged event money?

New baskets and cross walks for crossing the street on the monster. People drive fast on the main road and as walkers we should have the right of way
Please!!! This needs a lot more attention. This course gets a lot of money from annual bag tags, and daily tags. Its time for new baskets!

Oh and whoever said the park is chronically broke is GROSSLY misinformed...very much the opposite.
