***PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT***

During a recent walk-through of the Park with City of Salem Park Department Officials the erosion of the hill on holes #4/13 and #5/14 was noticed and raised concerned in the Parks Department.
After further discussion with the Park Department, and in partnership with Willamette Valley Chain Gang DGC and Capital City's Woodmansee Groundskeeper Stacey W, the baskets for holes #4/13 and #5/14 will be removed from their current locations starting April 6th.
The current plan is to place them in the "B" locations for holes #1/10 and #2/11. Signs will be posted that instruct players to throw TWO drives from #1's tee pad, one for the "A" location and one for the "B" location, and to hole-out both drives to each location. The same instructions would also be posted at the tee pads for holes #2, #10, #11 thereby making up the four missing holes while still keeping the course a full 18. After playing the original hole #3 and #12 players will be directed down the path to the right to the tees pads for holes #6 and #15.
While the baskets for holes #4/13 and #5/14 are moved players are asked, and signs will be posted, to stay out of that area as much as possible to allow for the restoration of the hillside. At the end of April another walk-through is scheduled with the Parks Department. The better the hillside looks the better chance we have to get the baskets moved back faster!

***Thank you for you cooperation!***

Well that is pretty messed up and will definently effect play there. For now that is all and will leave my comments and history of this to myself. Hopefully this will be resolved soon as that really messes up play of course. Thanks for the info and hopefully back to normal soon.

Untill proper terraces or steps put in on these two holes, there will always be an issue. Has been discussed in past and needs to be brought back to the top of the list of needed work. This would have been a great time to have accomplished this with some preplanning. My opnions and thoughts. Thanks

Steve, the alternative is the park will be closed to disc golf completely. The park and course has seen a great increase in play traffic which has worsened the issue. I agree some form of tiered or angled walk ways will be needed to prevent the inevitable erosion but this will require a bit of plann ... more

Stacey, thanks for your input but you are not telling me anything new at this time. I also appreciate your new interest in the course and position as groundskeeper for CCDG. Can you give us any information on what 'we' are all working on and what the parks plan is for this. Open informa ... more

Thank you Turkey! Once we have a plan that is approved by the City we will announce it and welcome any assistance from anyone willing to put in the time. Steve, we share a passion for this sport and for this little gem of a course so I promise I will do all in my power, with the help of anyone willing, to ensure the course stays, and stays in great condition!

Steve Moore   April 5, 2016 at 7:48pm

So I am guessing then that 'we' is CCDG. It can often be easier to get people interested and excited about a project (not just disc golf) if they are included in or aware of the plan being put forth for approval. Thanks for your efforts but this has been a big issue over the years and he ... more

You have my help as well. This is the course I learned to play on. I don't want to see it go anywhere. I'll give as many hours as I spent playing it. Any plan to keep it intact is one I am fore.
