Three polite and sneaky sherrifs just "beer checked" me and a friend on hole 17. They walked up from hole 16 and said " beer check guys" and looked into our golf bags. Fyi to all this won't be the last beer check. Keep an eye out or simply obey the course rules.
Did they have probable cause to look?
This happened to me at the beginning of the season. Don't you love how it takes three police officers in a group to handle this? Go-go tax dollars!
No probable cause. I let them look so they would leave. I had nothing to hide.
even if I didn't have anything to hide.....I doubt I would have let them look......just because we disc, doesn't mean they can violate our rights!

well unfortuanetly the majority of disc golfers give the sport a bad image and those of us who dont also dont do anything to attempt to get those that do give it a bad image out.. so we shouldnt be too surprised... if i was a cop id prolly patrol the courses too..
Nice. Well I think the police may have been lenient. They were very cool. We were cooperative. If you are discreet, and cooperative, I'm sure the police will understand, and probably not ticket you.
I've talked with a few people about this. It's not common, but has been known to happen over the years. Most likely, someone at the Township Hall or using the other facilities at the park saw someone with Alcohol (the park does say 'No Alcohol') and complained. That's been known to happen here and there.
