Okay heres a warning to everyone, be careful what you roll into ff with in your posession and what you do on the course, dont be stupid and smoke right out in the open and in front of dog walkers! I was out cleaning the tee pads today and had no choice but to call troy pd and oakland cnty animal control after a dogwalker got in my face because he didnt like that i asked him nicely to put his black german shepard on a leash and the only thing coming out of his mouth was about the disc golfers drinking, smoking and littering, which in reality is all true but its time we all make that little sacrifice in order to get the dogwalkers under control and in turn hopefully that will reduce the amount of dog **** that has been getting worse..also keep an eye out for the guy with the black german shepard as in his spazzing out he also threatened to vandalize the course and cut chains on the baskets

Jeremy- Hitman- Horton   December 27, 2012 at 12:11pm

he's prob the same one that his dog killed the squirrels last year on hole #1 at a turny there

Jay B   December 27, 2012 at 12:14pm

No thats the guy with the black lab im the one who watched that happen and got into with him over it, but they are friends as that guy with the lab was out there walking today with the guy that has the german shep, i talked to animal control this morning and they all got warning on their vehicles and let him know they are always there between 9-11 every morning

I would have had no problem with asking them all nicely as i have in the past but this guy was a reall **** and also threatened to cut chains on the baskets

John Minicuci   December 27, 2012 at 12:34pm

They might ask you sometime in the future, if they haven't already, to use sand instead of salt on the pads. The dogs sometimes eat the salt. I know if they had their dogs on leashes then they would not be close enough to the pads to allow the dogs to actually eat the salt. There are plenty of ... more

yes john i understand what youre saying and i have debated with myself for a long time about if it wise to bring the authorities into it but first you answered your own comment about the dogs eating the salt, bottom line is if they WERE on a leash then that wouldnt be a problem AT ALL, i know there ... more

Jay B   December 27, 2012 at 12:51pm

i just spent 2 and ahalf hours out there cleaning the tee pads this morning so everyone can enjoy playing there just to be met by a dog walker full of rude comments about ALL disc golfers as if that should be taken all out on me for everyones actions on that course, so if anyone wants to debate with ... more

Fight the good fight, dude. The simple fact is it's a city ordinance that dogs must be on a leash. It's a multi-use public park, not specifically a dog park. About the disc golfers' use of alcohol or "illegal substances".... know your rights, and don't get caught (and get your medical card).

John Minicuci   December 27, 2012 at 12:55pm

I am not sure about ppl hating to play FF, its just that there are nicer courses to play a casual round. FF is great for a quick round or for league play for sure. And yes, every now and again we all run into that non-discer, maybe a dog walker who is just plain rude. In fact, one of the biggest jok ... more

Douglas Fresh   December 27, 2012 at 1:03pm

The authorities are there for a reason. Obviously talking nicely with these folks isn't going to produce any positive results. They'll call us beer-drinking, pot-smoking vandals, and we'll call them inconsiderate ****-factory owners. I sincerely doubt there is any way to reach an amic ... more

Jay B   December 27, 2012 at 1:12pm

the piece of information that i learned today when i called troy pd they told me that troy doesnt have a leash law BUT the animal control officer who knows michigan animals laws informed me that the ENTIRE state of mich has a leash law so either way its still against the law

Jay B   December 27, 2012 at 1:15pm

and on top of the dog **** that we step in, set our bags in and our discs fly into as you pointed out the other main problem of the distractions of the dogs running through the fairways and right up to us as we are throwing

John Minicuci   December 27, 2012 at 7:27pm

@Doug, with or without a medical license, it does not give anyone the right to smoke it in a public park out in the open, which is why we do not need extra eyes on the people on the disc golf course. From the Michigan.gov website: "333.26427 Scope of act; limitations. 7. Scope of Act. Sec. 7. ( ... more

think its time we stop waiting on hole 15 for dog walkers to pass before we drive. that will learn em.

John Minicuci   December 27, 2012 at 7:58pm

uh-oh?? lol

Douglas Fresh   December 27, 2012 at 10:42pm

I understand that John. I have always maintained that smart folks dont have run-ins with the law. It's usually the idiots that can't keep from getting caught. Regardless, a medical card is just a safeguard. You still need to have a brain in your skull to keep the 5-0 off you and those around you.

Brandon"RedRum" Redmond   December 28, 2012 at 2:26am

I side with Jay. While I don't want my fellow golfers bother by added eyes, I have called animal control and Troy police, but simply to ask about leashes and dog owners. I was told that if there is an issue, that I could take plate numbers and report them. I don't want to infringe on anyon ... more

I got the guy on video acting like a spaz and basically blaming me for everyones illegal activity, and with him screamin at me with his german shepard off the leash circling me felt pretty intimidating not knowing if his dog would attck me if i just tried to defend myself if he did take it there

Jay B   December 28, 2012 at 2:37am

Just happens that a german shepard is the only dog ive ever been bitten by too..so im within my rights to involve the authorities when i feel threatened just because i asked him nicely to put his dog on a leash
