Many of you may know by now that efforts are being made to finalize an 18-hole layout at Memorial Park. In the existing 9-hole layout, there are efforts to put in multiple tees for each hole, and can be identified to some degree already. The longs for holes 1, 2, 5, and 6 in particular are shaping up to be pretty tasty, and we hope to have them better marked soon:
* Hole 1's long tee is going to be closer to the parking lot, and about 40 feet left of the original (short) tee, shooting through a different opening in the tree line, and providing a sharper dogleg than the original. Birdies will be much harder here.
* Hole 2's long tee is straight back from the short tee (the post will be moved as it's directly in line), being located right near the walking path.
* Hole 4 has a long tee planned in the current setup that will be 30-40 feet straight back from the original (short) tee, in a path that is cleared. Tee right near the cutoff limb of the fallen timber along the side of the path.
* Hole 5's long tee is perhaps 80 feet behind the short, near the paved path, shooting between two of the dogwoods lining the path.
*Hole 6 is going to have its long tee near the lake, downhill from 5, and the short tee will be along the path, about 50 feet past 5's basket, in order to both give some separation from 5's sphere of play, and to give space to a memorial sapling that was planted in harm's way with respect to the original tee location.
There is likely to be some re-engineering of some holes (3,4,8, and 9 are all candidates).
My understanding is that there are funds for perhaps 3 more baskets currently, and one likely hole location is to start across the road behind 9 tee, going down the hill along the road to the larger open area before you reach the creek.
Efforts are also underway to get the bulletin board functional.
