I will try to keep this short and anyone who needs a longer explanation can PM me. You are only covered by PDGA insurance if the event requests a COI from the PDGA at $50US a time. BCDS competitive memberships are collective effort by all players to lower the cost of insurance on an annual basis for all clubs and players in the province by purchasing group insurance from a Canadian insurer. It has been and will continue to be the best strategy to protect volunteers and players at a reasonable cost. We should all be thankful for the work of our Provincial Sports Organisation and its volunteers who quietly go about advancing our sport in the province. I understand if you are visiting BC for 1 event this could be a barrier to your participation. I cannot waive the fee but if you need financial assistance to participate then the BC Open will consider your request for support. You can contact me privately by email.
You need one for any BC Event not hosted by a club.
