Wednesday Night Glow Finale:

I touched on this very briefly last night so here it is again but in more detail. Next Wednesday (the 24th) will be/should be the last Dubs held at the Goon. There is currently $63 in the Ace Fund. I'll put $43 towards the payout for this last Dubs. However, it'll go towards the pot for those who placed in the Top 10. Those in the Top 10 are:

1 - Adam Renfro - 176
2 - Brad Larson - 165
3 - Joe Schacht - 163
4 - John Thein - 148
5 - Nick Colla ... more

Man, knocked outta the top ten the week before the finale. FML. Good luck gents.

Louie Orozco   April 22, 2013 at 5:50pm

Ok, everyone has confirmed they'll be at the finale. As promised, I'm letting you all know that the format WILL be different than the usual "best disc" format. If that scares you, please let me know. I'm sure Derek won't mind being challenged. Remember, to those of ... more

Hey everybody. Non disc golf post here. I've got a bunch (like 5) extra tickets to Alyeska and a few to Hilltop. I willing to part with them for cheap or even free. Hit me up. I'll be going to Alyeska a few times a week until the end of the season too if you want to catch a ride. That is all.

I'm trying to make it happen Friday

Nick Collaer   March 14, 2013 at 12:02pm

That'd be great if you could make it. B-rad and I are leaving anchorage at 9er so hit me up if you want a ride.

Just to reiterate last nights "special message" and to those who weren't there:

Due to many of us (not you, us) arriving to leagues AFTER the posted time, I've incorperated a new rule. It goes a little something like this:

If you plan on participating in the ADGA's weekly leagues you're gonna need to be there on time from here on out. If you feel you might be late you have 3 options: 1) Call someone you know will be there and have them buy you in (this doe ... more

Good Job Lou

Great shooting to those who came out to Dubs last night. Five of 8 teams threw double digit neg scores. The previous best was 4 teams. AAAND there were 2 Aces. The 1st was thrown by JT$ on #6. Then on the very next hole Josh Stewart did it. Those two were on the same card but had different partners. Lights out!!!

Don't you mean LIGHTS ON?!?! Lol

Jeremy Boyd    December 12, 2012 at 8:59pm

So Fro and I played a glow round last night in the fresh snow and I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to see the l.e.d. lights even when they slipped under the snow a bit. Don't be scurred folks, come on out to glow tonight!

Tonight was a great example of perfect conditions at the Goon during night golf. We didn't need the lights on the baskets, discs came up missing for all of 30 seconds, and the overcast made it seem like a day round. Good times!

Jeremy Boyd   December 13, 2012 at 9:43pm

The lights on the baskets are pretty nice tho : ) - We need to do an evening out at PC soon and see how she plays for glow. Friday or Saturday night?

Louie Orozco   December 14, 2012 at 3:44pm

I most definitely agree. They're nice period. Sign me up for a night round at PC.

Jeremy Boyd    December 1, 2012 at 1:45pm

So Louie, I'd like my scores for WNL Dubs to have the appropriate (and neato) neon GLOW tag...don't you want yours to have it too?

I played Friday night opening day and brought my led flashlight w a long enough lanyard to put through the f logo cut out on the top part of the basket and that worked great w the led light pointed down. Played 9pm - 11pm just had to walk to the basket n hang the light every hole. Worked amazing and had a great round. Something battery operated like that would be my suggestion to solve the glow stick cost issue. 3 packs of those LEDs are 20$ at Costco I believe

From playing 2+ years of glow winter league in cincy....here's my $.02... For tape - put it on warm discs. Use the super low temp electrical tape. Place lights on top of disc. Carry some extra lights, some spare tape, and some small scissors in your bag. Pare down your discs. Use less than six. Shouldn't be that hard at westerchester. Red lights save your night vision and don't blind you when putting. Use the battery operated glow sticks and hang one in the center of the chains fl ... more

I would also add that the discs with lights taped on top were much more visible than clear (Champion, Z, Opto type plastic) discs with the lights taped to the bottom.

Brian, Fro, and I played WCL tonight with our lit discs. We didn't have glowsticks for the baskets but seeing the baskets was much less of an issue than seeing the discs. The mixed lighting conditions makes it hard to track the small amount of light emitted by our discs, and with the snow coming things could get really difficult. The clear packing tape we used also didn't seem to like the cold temps/moisture, so that may be an issue. Do they make glow in the dark ribbon?
