Sprinklers spraying, players playing.

Wet grass and sprinklers spewing water everywhere slowed the groups to a crawl this evening @ UNC. Many new students strolling the grounds added to the lumbering pace. We pushed on and finished before dark. Chris aced hole 5 again! Right after the round was over. :( Lots of low tag numbers made the players think over every shot as they tried to place high. This time all players ended up with a new number, except for one...

Skeeter's Delight.

Holy cow those skeeters are ruthless!! We will definitely not return to Pioneer until this fall sometime. Players lathered up with bug spray are apparently still a treat for the mosquitoes at Pioneer Park! Hole 2 proved tough for some strange reason this evening, rendering many fewer birdies than normal. The rest of the course, not so much. This marks one of the few, if not only time, that all players shot under par. Good job guys. With the lack of the Pioneer breeze, we all found the cou ... more

Deione breaks through!!

Deione Lewis turns in a stellar performance, leading the whole way and having no fouls. The rest of the field found it impossible to match as everyone else fell short. Mark and Deione were seemingly running away with the match, each sitting 4 down after 6. Chris made it interesting down the stretch coming back from 4 behind to tie it up on hole #3(15) no less. With Mark losing his grip on his game, it came down to the last hole where Chris' bid for a bird went in and out, sealing the deal for the parked Deione.

Cool summer day

The tussle came this week with a nice cold front that had moved in and the cool weather helped keep the majority of the scores this week rather cold. The lead group of 4 players all shot great scores starting with Javier and Eric at 7 down, then Chris at 9 under, and Ryan once again stole the show with a smooth 10 down. As for the rest of the field many players fought out a tight race for 5th with Eli in the end coming out ahead at Even. Next week the tussle moves back to UNC see ya there!

Ronnie Brown steals the show!

With the sun beating down @ over 90 degrees the players gathered around the first tee. Several new faces were seen and several familiar ones as well. Chris opens the evening with a park job on #1, taking another early lead. Ronnie, not to be outshined, scores five birds in a row on the first pass; tying him after 9 holes with Ryan @ 6 under. Chris and Steve were running close together after 9 and both players even scored 5's on #1 the 2nd time around. Sitting at -2, Chris then refocuse ... more

We are not worthy.....

As the tussle begun something special must have been in the air. Chris started out with 8 birdies in a row only to be matched by Ryan one hole later. By the time the dust settled some amazing scores would be recorded on the day. Chris shot a amazing 13 under with a burt finger on the throwing hand but was bested by the insane 15 down by Ryan which is now the new course record. Way to go guys! Third place with a pedestrian 7 down was Eric fallowed by Mark with a 5 down. What will take place next week...... come to UNC to find out.

Another Tussle

Great turnout today @ the thursday tag tussle, amazing 6 birds in a row from chris thomas on the back nine to finish with a (-12). Eli had a very consistant day with no bogey's to finish with a (-7). Mark had a rough start on the front 9 but finished strong on the back nine finishing with a (-6). Ryan foose lost a disc on hole 9 to slow his group down. (star roadrunner down). Steve B. kept it close throwing some deep bombs on several holes finishing at (-5). Deione almost lost a disc in the ... more

The Week of the Near Aces

This week brought a slight rain, a new layout, and some Really Close Ace Shots. The Shot of the Day went to Ryan who while playing the old hole 3 format the first round of 6 hit an ace from the tee pad............ if only he had not gone short on his first throw leaving him with a nice circle 3. Corey nearly aced 2, Eric just missed 6, and Steve had three great runs coming on hole 1 twice and the new hole 3. The new layout was like by all and will continue to challenge players to only get better ... more

The Jump

With clouds coming in over head and rain on the horizon the tussle still managed to get in the action this Thursday. While many players shot personal best no one on this day would shot better the Mark Frazier. Hit a nice 7 under par Mark walked this week with the number 1 tag for the first time. Some Clutch putting and drives that mostly found the fairway were enough to hold off the field for the day. The win ended an amazing run by Chris of 18 straight league events that he has captured! Ryan a ... more

Picture Perfect

While the weather was great today at the tussle no great scores really shined through. Chris once again stayed ahead of the crowd with a nice 9 down. And Eric, Eli, Nacho, and Mark finished under par on the day as well. No one was able to reach the nice mark of 10 down but still several tags did change hands after the dust settled in the tussle. Next week is at UNC see ya there!!

The Tussle After the Rain......

8 players showed up as the skies cleared for this week’s tussle. With 5 of the 8 players posting scores under par many players brought their "A" games to UNC this week. Steven, Ronnie, and Mark battled though all 18 holes with Steven and Mark nosing out Ronnie by one shooting a 2 down. Eli did his best to make a push for the number one tag but Chris once again held off the challenger by two strokes and posting a nice 8 down on the day. Next week the tussle moves back across town to Epple......

The growing Tussle

9 players turned out for this weeks Thursday Tag Tussle. Once again the number 1 tag stayed in the hands of Chris Thomas with him posting 10 down which was 7 strokes ahead of the rest of the field. Making the big jump with some long drives and cluthc putts was Eli who moved from tag 12 to 4 with a second place finish one stroke ahead of Eric. By far the most impressive event of the night was a huge come from behind victory by the Denver Nuggets over the Lakers!!! Next week the tussle moves back to UNC so see ya then!

Bird is the word

6 players turned out to play the first Thursday Tag Tussle and the weather could not have been more perfect. With little to no wind the birds would be flying all night. With several holes recording more than 3 players getting 2s the scores began to fall below par quickly. Once again Chris pulled away from the pack with an amazing 8 birdies in a row and a solid 11 birdies in the round!!! As for the rest of the group Deione made the jump up the number 4 tag by holding off Mark and Eric in the fina ... more
