I say things didn't go terrible I think if games could be constant it would make a huge difference, there were at least 3 times that one or more court was not being used. You figure out how to keep them full and we would finish faster. Also if we could get more baskets and rotate the courts 90 degrees you could easily fit six maybe seven instead of four.

All this drama, there is a simple solution if you don't like it, go putt outside in the snow. I am glad I am in school on Monday nights, as cool of an idea this indoor putting league is, I wouldn't be able to deal with all the crying going on at Crying Brook Putting League.

i also agree with 2j and sobjack. maybe more baskets and pro/am, both good ideas.

i am not saying **** everyone but am1 and opens, thats ridiculous. im sorry, i thought i had a good idea and that you disagree with me so strongly. the league doesnt seem to flow as well as it should. i was just trying to come up with a better format to do just that. i had discussed with another player that was there and we both agreed that when people are up they should be there ready to go and not be in the parking lot taking care of other business. the only way to get better is to challenge yourself and practice more.

We have the same problem of fairness with random draw doubles. There is always that dominant team that gets together. We could try to do a pro/am side and draw that way. Just my two cents, remember this is just supposed to be a fun night inside while it's freezing outside. I think it has been great so far and bugs will be worked out in time. Thanks to everyone who helps out with this.

ska bob(sigh). im pretty sure i did say maybe one or two $3 games. if you dont want to go home, make more putts. i found myself bored out of my mind. on top of that it took way too long. unless the format changes, i dont see myself coming back. I know, no one cares if i dont show. thats not the point. the whole point is to make you a better putter and have fun. neither of those two goals were met for me this past monday night. way too chaotic. i say singles format!

We do a game called chains and through much trial and error I think we have found a good format. Basically you play x amount of times (depends on how long you want the round robin to last) and you don't play the same team twice. This keeps it loose And allows the games and pits to stay moving. After this phase all teams will have a record then you play a single elimination tourney for the winner. You can do a bunch of these games depending on how many ppl you have.

i agree with rooster 100%. This is my idea. No dubs. Straight up NCAA(march madness) style. straight up singles brackets. You take the top 4 rated players and pin them against the four lowest rated players. all players are ranked by player rating. so you have four #1 seeds. Or you could have a draw for seeds in the first round. you lose the first match you go home, and the player who beats you gets your $5(in the first round). if you win your first match, you continue. you lose your second match ... more

Personally, I think it took to long, but that could be because of the 38 people. It felt like I was actually putting for about 1/5 of the time.

How did everyone like the 4 games / bracket style format? I have tinkered with the PowerPoint and have merged everything into an Excel file with links from one worksheet to another. As the players' names get entered into their respective teams all the worksheets automatically get updated with their names. I made this using 48 players and will begin altering it and making different versions by reducing the amount of players by 2 all the way down to 20 players so we can quickly open up a file ... more

Talked to one of the girls in the bar...She said the Disc Golf helped double if not more the Bar intake for Monday night...if we keep this up they are going to be begging us to hold a Tourney out there.

John, I did some internet research to see how other sports do leagues and/or tournaments and I think I found one that might work good for this. I got it from the American Cornhole Association (www.americancornhole.org), in their "traditional" league format they play 1 match = 3 games or best of 3. I've copied some text from their rules, as always this can be tweaked as needed......

The BS issue will be solved by bringing our own CD's.
The margin of victory issue, IMO, needs to be tinkered with.
Bob, I hear you on your example of Team A shooting 4 winning rounds with a small margin of victory but that could have been because they just made enough to beat a team that missed a lot of shots while another team may have had a better shooting percentage earning a wider margin of victory.
I like the points awarded for victories.
Why not 2 points for each win and a point ... more

Personally I thought the games were a good length. If you were to count all points the games would be over pretty darn fast, and winning by 2 would be a lot harder. I think the way scoring was tonight was ideal. 10:00pm was not too late either. It'd a good system, why fix what's not broken.
