Dear everyone at Leagues , just wanted to thank everyone who runs this league . unfortunetley im moving to allendale tonight and wont be able to attend leagues prolly until summer but thx for the good times i love this leagues and it has helped me become a better player. ill be throwing a disc off whole one long tees tonight just for a last time thing. whoever finds it well its yours haha good luck to everyone!!!!

64 Players. Way to go Grant Abderson and Mike Henry (-14) from 27 shorts. Lyle Downing takes the CTP. Thanks to Holdens Party Store for the swag. No one hits an ace so ace pool is up to $933 ($466.50) plus for next week. All shorts till ace pool gets hit. Lets make someones Xmas!!! See you next week.

As for Pro's always cashing 1st. This is FALSE. Look back at past league standings. More AM's cash than Pro's (yes there are more AM's)

Oh yea, Xmas is comming up and everyone still needs to do more shopping. What better way to shop than to have an additional $450 or more in your pocket. So.....

2007, 2008: Run by Jason K. Random draw, league average around 20 to 30 summer, 5 to 20 winter.

Let me give everyone a history lesson of our leagues since I started playing, helping and running it.
2007, 2008: Run by Jason K. Random draw, league average around 20 to 30 summer, 5 to 20 winter.
2009 Prior to DGS Posting: Randon Draw, average 20 to 40.
2009 Summer Leagues: Run by myself/Jeff B/Curry Pro/AM (Cards), Average 42 player average with only 8 Pro/AM1 average a week. This process took a long time and created much confusion. We played on the Origional then Black Locust.
2009 Winter Leagues: Myself/Dave. Randon Draw (Chips). Average 35. Chips helped us streamline the process. Groups were decided by #'s (1-4 were a group, 5-8, 9-12 and so on).
2010: Myself/Dave. Random Draw (Chips), Average 50 (3 way tie for 1st in the state, only double league). Way more Pro's and AM1 players. Players picked their own group.
2010 Winter Leagues (6 weeks in), Average 50 players, Random draw, players pick their own group.

It looks like we have made excellent inprovment each year. I liked the ability to pick each group by numbers for the same reason Mark gave. Players started to mildly complain about picking their own groups and I had a conflict with making my 12 year old son going off in a group, finishing an hour earlier than myself with no one really keeping on eye on him till I got in, so we went to the "pick your own group".
I dont like the idea of rating players for 2 reasons: 1)No other league really does this for doubles so it would not benfit anyone for the overall point series (KT and MICPS). 2)Alot of extra effort not supported by DGS would be required on my part which will take away from building towards events next year and the future, and my family that I dont get to spend much time with because of my work.
I was told in the beginning when I took over this League to be fair to all players and do what is best for the league as a whole. I believe we have and will continue to do so. I would like to continue with leagues "as is" through the winter series. I will take time to play and tweek suggestions so se if we can do or add anything for the upcomming Summer series. I run mock leagues on paper when new ideas come up to see how they will work. If I can put any suggestions to work which are efficent, I will do so.

All in all this is an awesome league and I am grateful for Jeff and his staff's efforts and the player's participation. How ever Jeff decides to run things he'll have my support. Hats off to Jeff for running a hella successful league. If the angels in heaven were to ask the Lord if there is devoted and selfless magnanimity on earth, Jesus would point down at Jeff Kaluk and his staff.

Mark E mark's got the plan man. There's too many beginner players joining this league to have power teams dominate week after week.

Pros like the chance to draw a good partner and win solid prizes, which the current format allows and is part of the reason that attendance is so good. Maintaining a successful format is an important goal and justifies the huge effort put in by Jeff and Dave and others. I'm not sure how much a Pro/Am format might discourage some Pros from att ... more

Many lower level players don't have the chance to see and learn from and play with Pros except in popular leagues. In order to become good it is valuable, if not essential, to be exposed to Pros because it drastically speeds up the improvement curve.

The fairest way to make teams is rank every player and put the very best player with the weakest player, etc. But this will drive away many of the Pros.

If you got a couple of super teams and those two teams decide to play on the same card then the ams have a much smaller chance of living their dream of playing with pro's. The federal government needs to step in and cram a pile of costly legislation through regarding this issue in the form of a "league reform bill" or possibly a "doubles league fair teams act", and get this passed into law quickly, before the Repubs gain majority.

If the drawing order of the chips determined both your partner ( #1 goes with #2) as well as your group ( team 1&2 plays with team 3&4) it would make for a more diverse social mix. The way it is done now we pick our own playing groups, so we end up playing with our friends ( which is fine, of course) but we don't meet as many of the other league players as we otherwise would. There is a small issue of possible collusion but a bigger issue of the beginn ... more

Beginners are mostly donators in a league like this. One of the draws for them is being exposed to good players and learning from them. The top players will always want to play with other top players but they get to do that all the time in tournaments and in casual play.
