Champoeg Dubs driven by All Day Disc Golf is tomorrow!!

There is only one day left before the next installment of Champoeg Dubs. This season has be epic with lots of excitement and basket bashing. The latest leader board is attached here and you can see that things are starting to tighten up. Current leader Danny Welch can make easy work of this if he keeps his average up but lurking only one point behind him is Aaron Donaldson who can easily make a move and jump into that top spot. There is only one day left before the next installment of Champoeg Dubs. This season has be epic with lots of excitement and basket bashing. The latest leader board is attached here and you can see that things are starting to tighten up. Current leader Danny Welch can make easy work of this if he keeps his average up but lurking only one point behind him is Aaron Donaldson who can easily make a move and jump into that top spot. Who will take the Founder's Cup this year? Conner Williams can become a 2 time champion if he keeps his average up ( he has the highest average in the top 20). The math all checks out and Conner could take the show. Positions in on the board will be shifting a bit the last 3 weeks as only 10 weeks count to the total and all low scores will be dropping. Come on out and join the fun!

We are facing daylight fading but I know peoples hopes for birdies and still soaring. The only chance to play 3 more rounds is they have to play FAST! Tomorrow we will play 19 holes. None of the extra 14 sweep. And we will also play '2 from the shorts'! Next week will be 18 holes of 'Survivor'. And the final round of league play will be 18 holes, all short pads, all night. Don't forget that the last night of league is on WEDNESDAY August 31st.

Champoeg Dubs driven by All Day Disc Golf is tonight!!

It is that time again so grab your discs and bring that positive energy. The weather will be great and the course is in prime condition for an all out basket attack! With only 4 weeks left in the season it is crunch time for piling up the points. Don't be the person who asks 'What happened?' get on out here and make it happen!!

Tonight we will be playing a 20 hole layout that includes a new par 5. We will be playing from hole 4 long pad to hole 6 short basket as a par 5. No mando in play, just have fun. We will also be playing hole 1a with the island and DZ. And just to spice it up and get the scores low, 2 from the shorts per player.........NOT HOLE 4-6!!

The big finale is September 10th and you definitely want to be there. Lots of cash and prizes to give away and some pretty sweet trophies. ALSO, just a reminder that the last week of the season will be played on Wednesday August 31st. Don't miss that action.

We are fast losing daylight so speed of play is a must. This will be the last week to play a longer layout. The last 3 weeks will see a modified, shorter layout to ensure we can complete before dark. So be prepared to play less holes in the final 3 weeks, but my hand is forced.

While I have your attention I need to start spreading the word. The last night of the league season will need to happen on WEDNESDAY August 31st. The park switches from closing at 9pm to closing at 8pm on September 1st, which was originally going to be the last night of league. In order to get us to a 14 week season I need to run that last night on a WEDNESDAY. I hope everyone gets the message. I will mention it regularly.
Tomorrow we will be playing a 20 hole layout with 5 par 4 holes. The road will play as a river as we play from 13 tee to 14 basket (par 4) and from 15 tee to 16 basket (par 4). We will be playing all other holes available with the island action on 1a and short pads on 4, 8, and 10. And the gimmick for the night will be........
Shot-shank Redemption!!
No, not the movie with Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman. Shot-Shank Redemption will allow 2 mulligans per person off the tee only. You don't need a friend named Red to escape from a bad shot off the tee, just use 'Shot-Shank Redemption' and try again (just make sure the guards aren't looking).

We will be playing the current OGO layout. This will include an island hole on 1a with a DZ. Any and all OB lines that are painted on the course will be in play. We will be skipping holes 5 & 6 tonight for speed of play. But that makes this a 20 hole layout!!

Hole 4 will be played to the shorter position in the trees due to a fallen branch at the par 4 location. Lucky for all of you, I have already made the scorecards with hole 4 as a par 4 and I do not feel like updating. Power to the players!!

Hole 14b will be played as a par 3 from the short tee pad around the corner from 14a.

This will be a fun night full of birdies. Come on out and snag some points and practice for the OGO. AND.........we will be playing 2 from the shorts. Damn Skippy!!

Week 3 of this fine league has ran it's course and tallied up the points. With this being the wettest round in Champoeg Dubs history it is no wonder the head count took a hit. 42 frolfers weathered the storm and fought the conditions in an attempt to snag some points and secure a spot in the top 20. The rain was relentless and the towels were overused, but a wet disc and soggy shoes did not stop the basket attack that played out on Thursday night. With this being the wettest round in Champoeg Dubs history it is no wonder the head count took a hit. 42 frolfers weathered the storm and fought the conditions in an attempt to snag some points and secure a spot in the top 20. The rain was relentless and the towels were overused, but a wet disc and soggy shoes did not stop the basket attack that played out on Thursday night. It was no mistake that this field of frisbee friends was well below the standard flock size, but that only means the skill sets were tightly packed and ready for action. At the end of the show it was yours truly, Buck 'Yeah!' Rich with my partner in crime for the night Matt Franke that took it down with a -13 showing. Damn Skippy! My drives stayed clean (albeit wet) and Matt did not know how to miss on the putting green. Just one stroke off of the lead was the team of Kenny Kvarnstrom and Jason Duncan sitting at -12. And rounding out the podium was 'The Kid' Dallas Garber DG and Aaron Donaldson after a -11 score at the end of the show.

Not only did Jason Duncan snag a 2nd place finish he also took down the longest putt and set the new mark. He splashed the chains from 83' 5” out and is now holding the honor of Longest Putt of the Season sponsored by Disc Golf Depot. Alsom thanks to Oregon Sports and Family Chiropractic one of the crew had his buy-in paid back. Rick Fong is the newest member of the elite club of weekly sponsored disc golfers. Thank you Branden Garland for adding to the action. We could not do this without all the sponsors that help out.

Next week, 6/16, we will be in for a special treat. Local area disc golf phenom Cole Redalen will be making an appearance. On top of that, Top Flight Disc Golf will have a couple of Cole's signature series discs as CTP prizes with Cole's actual signature on them. You don't want to miss out on that. Show up early and secure a spot. This next one sounds like a good one for sure.

We are back in full effect and it time to get the low down on the throw down. So grab yourself a chair or find a comfortable place to stand. The magic is about to revealed.

The rain was softly falling on the field but this legion on disc golfers would need more than a wet towel to slow down this attack. 66 brave souls found themselves on the battle field of Champoeg and set their sights on basket crashing and birdie smashing with an eagle bid or 2 sprinkled in for good measure. With the start of the season unfolding these warriors of the wind knew the time for talk was over as operation chain wreck was underway. The excitement was high and the smiles were wide with nary a frown to be seen.

The ground may have been wet but the discs of Russ Heitkamp and Zach Todd stayed high and dry to the tune of -17 for the win this evening. Not far behind was the duo of Tristan Watts and Conner Williams (winner of the league in 2020) in 2nd place at -16. There was a tie at -14 for 3rdplace but after the showcase throwdown the band of Kyle Torian and Joel Graham came out on top. All in all the night was filled with basket ringing and birdie singing as there were 18 teams at double digit birdie counts. And birdies equal points in this league and points are the treasure we seek. Go get some!

Oregon Sports and Family Chiropractic is doing their magic for the league once again with a weekly sponsored disc golfer. Thanks to Branden Garland it was newcomer to the league Jansen Coulter that had his entry fee waived and became the first sponsored disc golfer of the 2022 season. Such a cool little addition to our league. Also, we are once again having the longest putt on the season contest this year on Hole 1 all season long. Last night it was Conner Williams tossing in from 40' 3” to get his name on the chart and give the rest of us the mark to beat. There is a $50 prize to whomever has the longest putt at the end of the season and this year I am stepping it up a bit. Whomever is the 2nd longest putt of the season will get $25 as well. Damn Skippy!! So keeping shooting the long ball and maybe you will get the $$$$$.

The season is just starting and the fun will be a must. We are still working out the details on the year end finale. Right now it is looking like a 15 week season with the finale on Saturday September 10th. (subject to change. I will have it finalized within one week) Only 10 weeks count to the finals but each week you are here you earn a raffle ticket for the finale.
