Next week is tag order and 3:30 pm start.

Travis Morret shot 47 and held off Jonathan Gere to keep the 5 tag. It was good to see Dan Christ back after a hiatus. Nine Llamas made it for the 4 pm start time. Let’s keep the numbers going lake that into WFL.

The last Daylight Savings Time tag match in 2019. 13 Llamas made the 4:45 start. The group decided to start play next week at 4 pm. Matt Parthree had the hot round with a 50.

Reminder, the finale is 11/24. More details to come in the next couple of weeks. It's been a long couple of years around these parts so time to rest up and heal up.

NEXT WEEK IS RANKED AND STARTS AT 5:00PM. That is out of the way.

Once again Art Hoerner used his skills and connections as a welder to help out the club. This time the black cart (that could not withstand 1500 plus pounds of stones being dropped into it) has an axle repair and reinforcement with angle bar to get it back to better than new construction.

Nineteen Llamas and a guest played the round (another Zach Woods cousin Josh). Four Llamas, Ken Perkins, Jonathan Gere, Zach Rowe and Jason Munns tied with 51. Great to see some Llama veterans be able to make the tag round.

TNT start at 5. Next week is random Lynn Baker played Iron Man and then found his way back for more on Tuesday.

A giant white truck pulled into the parking lot for TNT. The door opened and out hopped foundational Fighting Llama Jason Munns, One of the guys who found the live llama and helped redesign Boulder Woods. Both he and Cody Book joined the tag league. Twenty Llamas in total played the round. And 19 decided that tee time next week is 5:00 pm.

Don Price and Frieda helped Old Disc Bob reframe 16B tee pad. The work paid off as they both shot better than average rounds. ODB’s disc golf therapy may go franchise.

Course improvements were found on 14 tee pad and 10 meter circles around baskets 1, 2, 3 and 18. A player who shall remain anonymous said that the bricks on 1 let him know exactly where he was and that he could run a jump putt. Thanks to Jason Armstrong for leading that project. 22 Llamas and two guests played on one of the best days of summer. Ben Haring shot a 66 while Number 1’s Dad Troy Sowers shot a 57. Thanks to Hope Morret for coordinating with (much better than allowing) Travis so he could defend the #1 tag.

As the start times move earlier, we could use some help with running tags on Tuesdays. Help with Winter Fun League is also going to be needed ….

Next week is the Dynamic Doubles. Look at the post for more information. Also the Pinchot State Park volunteers picnic. Tags will take a break for the week.

There was a lot going on last night. First and foremost everyone should shake Don Price and Art Hoerner’s hand for the mowing work on Boulder Woods. The course has been in excellent shape this year due to the efforts of many members of our Club. As was most evident with World’s this year the Clubs are what make things go in disc golf.

We had the good old controversy with the two CTP flags on hole 4. A player who shall remain nameless got close in the first group to play the hole. They wrote their name on both CTP. This has happened before on hole 17 this summer. So we will have a remedial class in proper CTP claiming at the next tag round on 9/17. Cliff notes say that you only write your name on one CTP. Nelson Baitzel, Paul, Thomas Renner, Zachary, Dave Truitt, Travis Morret, Justin Clary, Steve Miller and Karl Pass should definitely attend.

So it took a little while to figure out the tags last night. The previous week one of the hardest working Fighting Llamas, Donna Griest, was omitted from the tag update. That through the tag sheet into chaos for the lower tags. That and a missing tag. Congrats to Noah for bringing his dad out for their annual round. Congrats to Dan for defending the #1.

For the first time in a year, Art Hoerner beat his good friend Don Price in a tag round. Art went low with a 63 and Don found a few more trees than he liked with at 69. Aaron Arnold was able to find some time away from work to shoot a 56. Frieda has a new weapon in a pink Ledgestone Flick and was able to hold off everyone else except aging Jason

Dan Christ gets the #1 tag with a 54! Matt Par3 and Nelson gave it a go with 55's. Frieda was in the hunt with a 57.

Llamas just broke out the umbrellas and played through the much needed rain. #53 joined the herd as Jay . Gobrecht found the time to play a round at the BWCC. Being Jay . he shot a 47 and then took the #53 home with him, hopefully to return for at least the finale. Maybe some rounds in between. In other news Frieda is training an apprentice. A shadow was seen working on flicks, rollers, backhands and other skills of the disc golf arts.

Chris 'Maverick' Williams was able to get away from his work on Life Lion long enough to get a round in at TNT. Great to have a Llama blast from the past in attendance. Founder of Pinchot Disc Golf Ken Lemkelde also played a round. Key Account Manager Mike Lordan took some time away from polishing the Quake to shoot the hot round with a 52. Jason Armstrong played but somehow forgot his tag.

The Llamas got back to one of their core club functions, tag rounds. Fourteen tag holding members and four guests played the course on one of the nicest nights of the summer. Don Price set his personal best much lower with a 56. He came off the course saying that he wanted to play all of his tag rounds with Caryn Shearer (Amateur World Champion 2019) after she helped him with his flick game. Brandon Harmon tied Travis Morrett with a 51, but Travis had the better tag so he held onto the 6 for a couple of minutes. Since Travis said he would not be back for a while so after tags he asked who had the lowest tag. Then he swapped the 6 with Bob Eberly for the 52 tag. Old Disc Bob will be defending the 6 next week in a tag order round. This is a chance for the top tags to get a round in with one of Central PA’s true legends of the game. We are calling you out tags 1 through 8!

Number 52 is in the house. Dan O’Brien joined the Llama tag league after a around with Caryn and Don P. More people should have the luck to play with those two. Otherwise, 57 was the magic number as four of 13 players shot that score.

A couple of players asked if there was going to be a tag round next Tuesday the 23rd. After running it past the Llama Board and the World’s TD’s the answer is YES. But there is a caveat. All play from the 2:00 pm round must be finished before the tag round can begin. So if there is a 2 hour rain delay and the World’s round does not finish until 6:30, the tag round will not start until 6:31. Ace pot will not be in affect and the players who play will have to keep track of scores and tag changes. Post up on Facebook after the round. Donna put out the call for some help with weed whacking on Boulder and fellow Llamas ‘Freight Train’ Trump and ‘Bruno’ Heisner spent some time before the tag round tightening up the course. Mrs. and Mr. Eberly worked on 13 and 12. Mrs. had a massive weed whacker and Mr. had a cute little chain saw.

Back to this ‘Bruno’ character. Some time he ran across Johnny McCray and got him to sign the 15 tag. So now whomever has the 15 now has the J McC tag. We’re just waiting for someone with an overstated self-value to sign the back of their own tag.

Congrats to Matt Parthree for taking down Noah. Guest Nick Russ had the best score with a 49, but then again he was a guest.

thunder storms before the roynd

Another week, another personal best. This time our young hero Noah Sowers shot a 46. This was good enough to take the #1 tag. All matters regarding the timely play of the #1 tag will be referred to tag master emeritus Ken Perkins.

Greg Easton and Darren Billet took the time to show Trevor, a guest from WI around the course. Don Price and Chris Troy showed Mike from Mechanicsburg the ropes. Spontaneous outburst of CTP inspired by Travis Morret donating a discount card to the DiscGolfStore.

Steve Beaver crafted a PB of 62 at TNT. Don Price was throwing the heck out of his Diamond and getting good distance. Josh Young was a welcome returnee. And again, Noah Sowers cut up the course with some mad putting skills and the skinniest line for a drop in 2 on Hole 3. Zach Mantz was over joyed to get the 51 tag. I think he plans on beating Greg Easton at their next round.

There was no basket on 13 thanks to a tree branch crashing on the yellow band. Bob Eberly tried to remedy it for the round. He and his brother in fixing Art Hoerner took the top with them for repair. It may be gone for a little while.


For the next four tag rounds

Kline’s Run and Sam Lewis stalwart Daniel Neff joined the tag league this week. He also participated in the Deloitte work day. Great to have you as a Llama also Dan.

17 card carrying members of the Llamas came out to play at TNT. We also had 2 Llamas in waiting (otherwise know as guests) in Josiah Truitt and Rebecca. Todd Slater, fresh of a weekend terra forming 13 at Coyote Hills, came away with the 2 tag with a 51. Chris Troy played in work clothes and shoes. Next time Chris we can delay the start of the round to let you change your shoes at least.

Next round RANDOM. Pick up sticks on the course whenever you play to make mowing and whacking easier!

Young Noah Sowers, with massively improving game, was wondering when the #1 tag would be out to play. Noah got his wish as middle aged Travis Morrett came to defend. Noah shot a 49 to give it a chance but Travis posted a 47. Guest Andrew Lease also shot a 47. Maybe a few other old guys can show up to further Noah’s learning. CTP won by MP#, JR and Darren B. 27 discs left in the CTP slush fund. Beka also played as a guest again before transferring to post college life. Caryn seems to be getting into World's prep mode with a 58. Thanks to KPerk for helping with the tags to get everyone out fast after the round.

Next week is TAG ORDER

Under the threat of doom and gloom, which never materialized, 13 Llamas and two guests played the TNT round at Boulder Woods. Zach Mantz found his game and shot a 55 and moved from tag 46 to 17 to claim the Most Improved Llama Of the Week (MILOTW). That may be the biggest improvement of the season.

A lot of Llamas are getting extra tag rounds in at Boulder Woods or other courses such as Shank Park in Hershey. If you play your tag in a non TNT or Sunday round please post up the scores on the BWCC Facebook page so we can keep track.

The record of oldest person to have the #1 tag has been broken. JR’s 58 plus a few months has been replaced by Jonathan Gere’s 62 minus a few months. We will put it at 61 years and 182 days until he can remember his birthday. Let’s hope he remembers to bring the #1 back for a quick defense. Dave Truitt brought us Jonathan Anthony to join the tag league last evening. Two guests, Andrew who also shot a 51 and Rebekah played with the other 13 Llamas. We also had the 1, 3, 4 and 5 tag holders show up and Jaime (941) Lepley put the 2 pack into play.

Choo Choo! Wayne ‘Freight Train’ Trump pulled into town for TNT. As he joined Derrick Root has taken a leave of absence while checking out the Northern California courses. He figures it will take him six months to do that … have fun.

15 Llamas fought for CTP (Miller, Morrett and Root won a disc) and honors. The highlight was Dave Truitt taking the #1 tag with a 52. K Perk was a stroke behind at 53. When the leaves start block the lanes people start to throw better?

The Fighting Llamas would like to welcome back Art Hoerner, David ‘Bruno’ Heisner and past tag master and all around good guy Ken Perkins. Ken showed little rust in his game as he put up a 55. Steve Miller regained the #1 with an even par. He was tied by Brandon Harmon (MILOTW with a 25 spot climb).

NEXT WEEK: CTP and RANDOM

As everyone who was present at TNT knows, there was a little bit of confusion with the tag distribution. This has been building for three weeks, starting with the Lordan Root Conundrum and finishing with Where’s ODB? So for the players who did not stay for the final distribution of tags on Tuesday, you may be off one slot from your actual tag. We will work over the next couple of weeks to straighten this out. So if everyone who played the 4/23 tags wants to come back on 4/30 it would be really helpful. Art Hoerner and Next Gen Morret played as guests for a total of 21 players.

Sunday Funday! Nelson, JR and Jason started off by placing pink baskets in the world's layout. Started off with doubles and a T Mo Cali, but Todd Slater climbing up 2 by his lonesome led to him joining for doubles. A quick switch up of teams (which would stand up to audit!) put JR with T Mo and Slater with Nelson. After round cries that the results were rigged fell on deaf ears. TNT justice will place tags back in the proper order. Dillon Morret played with Darren to complete that team.

Welcome back Craig Beam and Aaron Arnold. 22 mile per hour winds played havoc with everybody's game. Tom Renner put the 1 tag on the line again this week (hint, hint). Scores were up and a power thrower named Steve Miller cut through the wind better than the rest of us.

Llamas, Llamas everywhere. 23 folks wandered around Boulder Woods chasing Tom Renner and his #1 tag. No one was able to best his 53 although Matt Parthree and Travis Morrett tied with Llama legend Paul Wojcik returning and shaking off the rust with an even par. Alan Eshelman also found his way back after a hiatus. MILOTW (Most Improved Llama Of The Week) was Nelson gaining moving up 18 spots. CTP to Dave Truitt (of course) Jason A. and Jonathan Gere. Zach and Dillon played as guests this week.

Jason A. risking banishment from work and his household kept the ship asea at the BWCC TNT. Tom Renner needs to thank T Mo for forgetting his tag to claim the #1 for the first time as a Llama. Welcome to Dustin O'Brien and Brandon Harmon.

A ton of people were out of town today. Five persons showed up to play. Singles was the selected format. JR was experimenting on just about every shot with flicks, overheads and scoobers to pad his handicap for the Finale. Ben joined as a guest to day to get a taste of Quake longs.

Welcome Zach Rowe, Lynn Baker and Steve Miller. As the weather gets better Llamas are flocking (do llamas flock?) to Boulder Woods. Even with the return of these power players, no one could hold of Dave Truitt. Dave was five strokes better than his closest competitor to take the #1 tag from Jason Armstrong. A total of 20 players for this TNT. In this week's version of Hubby vs Wife, Frieda beat Bob. Next week groups are RANDOM.

Welcome back to Travis Morret and Justin Clary. Was great to see T Mo throw bombs on a big boy course. Was fun to watch Justin make shot after shot to help the team keep the lead. They teamed up to take the top tags available in this weeks round at the QC, which was doubles. Halfway through the round George (Reckless) Ginter and Nelson (The High Risk Wombat) Baitzel decided to go for something on every shot. They made up some shots but not enough to claim a higher place. Derrick Root and Jeff Ross were the third team,. ODB WANTS TO REMIND EVERYONE THAT DOUBLES OR TRIPLES SCORES AT THE QUAKE SHOULD NOT BE COUNTED TOWARDS A HANDICAP.

Four more Llama rejoined the herd. Noah Sowers was back for spring break and promptly took to top tag available. Zach Woods, Dan Christ and Todd Slater also were welcome returnees. Speaking of Slater, after a heckling about the conditions on 7 he promptly through and ace. But he forgot how to enter the ace pot. 7 more added to the ace pot.

So Greg Easton decided we should play in the lovely weather on Sunday. Derrick thought it would be great also. Things were still a little bit slippery as JR fell after a good chunk of 10 fairway slid out from under him. We had a total of nine so double became triples. Thanks to D Mo for shoveling a lot of tee pads while he and his brother played a practice round.

Matt Parfour is going on vacation. A Caribbean cruise. Sun and rum for a week. So he decided to put his 1.tag into play in 8 inches of packed powder. Derrick and JR joined him in the trek through the snow. Derrick still had ribbons in his discs frim Coyote Saturday. That was the difference in the round. Matt took a 5 on 3 due to a lost disc. JR a 7 on 5 for the same reason.

Congrats to Josh Young for braving a brisk night and joining the tag league. With a 4:30 start we had to hustle around the course but all the holes were in with light to spare.
