Overall, fun and surprisingly technical course considering very few trees.
This course is a blend of open space park land and well groomed, tree'd park. Each hole has 3 placements, making the course quite different in terms of length. This course is a blend of open space park land and well groomed, tree'd park. Each hole has 3 placements, making the course quite different in terms of length. I found hole design to be quite clever, maximizing choices given the sparse topography. For instance, hole 2 is fairly straight. However, OB road on the right and tree line on the left force you to throw either a long, accurate, straight shot, or a long hyzer over OB road the whole way until the landing zone. All holes are designed cleverly and mad respect to the course designer. Love it.
Pros: Tee boxes, catchers, layout I just loved the way the creek came into play on many holes, the use of what few trees there are was brilliant, leading to forehands, backhands, hyzers, turnovers, and s-shots. Really great.
Cons: Nothing to do with the course itself and more with the city. MOW THE GRASS.
I hate driving into the fairway and then having to search for my disc for several minutes because of high, unkempt grass. That's the only negative.
I'm a woods golfer from western NC. These open, windy courses are a new thing to me. The wind out here just doesn't stop. 20-30mph the whole time on the course eventually wore me down. I'd chuck a driver full force and watch it travel 250' forward and 50' backward. Hilarious.
PS. I know this isn't a particularly well-written review, it's early and I haven't even finished my first cup of coffee. Just go play there!
