Matt has done a great job on the course(huge understatement)I would hate to see what condition the course would be in without him. He had the perfect trees marked for removal creating an inside and outside route off the tee on 17,this adjustment would reward a well placed throw, allowing you to follow a lane towards the basket or at least the putting area.As it stands you can hit your intended gap but with no reward for doing so,there's no line to follow,it takes more luck than skill to get to the basket.

understandable, that course is atoll young. The park depo has the capability to move trees also.

That's optimistic Jay. There still would be plenty of obsticles. I would just like to see some defined fairways. You've got 3 of the best holes around in 14, 15, and 16 that just end in an odd par 4 on 17. I'm not talking peeling out the whole fairway. Matt had some very well thought out trees picked to go. Just wanted to see it happen, that's all. I think a little bit of fairway shaping is what's holding it back. I still love it out there though.

Played there yesterday and three out of the four of us made it over the hill thats good odds can't park them all boys. I'm sure some old trees will fall this winter then other routes will open up.

agreed dom... what happened?

What happened with the trees that were to be cut down? The ones I saw marked a few weeks ago would of made some beautiful fairways. Now they are no longer marked and its the same old cluster f**k on 17. I felt like a kid on Christmas eve that was so excited only to wake up on Christmas morning to find out dad lost his job and there isn't any presents.

Threw a glow x-caliber in the lake behind 5's basket. About 10-20 feet off the shore. Reward if returned.

I will be here around 8 in the morning working on hole 17 installing a bench behind the long tee and cutting down some of the smaller trees in the fairway if anyone wants to help. I will be playing by 11 am

Yes, from the long tee. There should be a sign on one of the trees to the right of the tee. I was there last Sunday, didn't notice if it was still there or not.

If you are not playing in the YUTE! on Saturday, Aug. 11 (Canton and Massillon), come on out to help Matt Dungan get Portage Lakes ready for its first sanctioned tournament on the new concrete tees (Aug. 18-19). Work will start around 9:00 Saturday morning, Aug. 11. Also, don't forget the Tiger Town Open on Sunday Aug. 12 at Massillon.

New to this sport, but love it!
New to this site ... Is it important to have friends on here?
If so, please add me. :)

13 more concrete pads finished today!
Thanks to all who came out and helped get us over the hump, 25 down 11 to go! Truck was there at 8:30 and we were done by 10 but it's funny how the real work is staying the rest of the day to guard 13 freshly poured tee pads that are scattered around a state park on a busy Saturday afternoon!
