An red old school Aviar putter went in just north about 20 feet from 12's basket. Jeff Bauman and "Madball"'s names are on the back. The blue faded graffiti disc thrower stamp is on the front. It is vintage, well tuned, and was mine. If anyone found it, a return will be provided...

Had a blue goldline striker go in at the point of the creek on 18 right where it gets kind of shallow at the pennisula. too murky to see anything, and since we finished in dark, couldn't go back. reward for return

Jeff, I do not mean any disrespect. I am not just speaking to speak. I worked/lived in Detroit. I know the area. I think a course on Belle Isle would be great. I would make the drive from Waterford to play it. However I am just saying. What you hear from the Detroit area is not rumors. Belle Isle is a great place during the day. However at night, not so much. I like to see more courses go up. I think there needs to be more courses in Waterford. There is one small course called Bayco ... more

I've had my hand in a lot of course development in this area. The Belle Isle idea, albeit a great one, is not a new one. Detroit's Lasky Disc Golf Course went in a few years ago. It was supposed to be folowed up by a family rec center featuring an 18 hole disc golf course that disappeared as fast as the economy fell. Here's an earlier thread on DiscGolferUs website: http://discgolfer.ning.com/group/bidgc?commentId=1809917%3AComment%3A1965010
Hopefully, this idea can now begin to get some legs under it. I'll help if need be...

Please don't just assume the worst about the City of Detroit. If the course was built and a strong outreach program was instituted to educate folks about the game, I think it could be successful and sustainable. Much like basketball and soccer, disc golf is an inexpensive sport and could be marketed quite well to inner city youth. This is also a self serving mission in my mind. I'd love to throw a few rounds on Belle Isle, grab some dinner in Greektown and then go see the Tigers in the ... more

Belle Isle would be nice. Until all the baskets are stolen and sold for scrap. Do you see why there are so many courses North and West. Even a couple East. South on the other hand....

I heard someone is trying to build a course out on Belle Isle. I think that would be awesome.

@ Mike-One other thing that I forgot, and probably the most important item of all; throw what feels right in your hand. Everyone has their go to disc, their favorite plastic, and all that. I love Bosses, but the wide rim can't be held and thrown right by some people. The general consensus from everyone is that the Buzzz is the end all be all in midranges, but some people prefer the Roc. It all comes down to what you feel comfortable with, and trust. It takes some tim, and a lil bit of money ... more

Clear as mud (hah). Seriously your explanation was helpful Brandon, I appreciate it. Thanks Chris Leo for the web site link. I started playing this year in May. Unfortunately personal issues kept me off the course for most of the summer (except for this last saturday at fire fighters).

I don't have any intention of becoming a pro. I do it for the workout (you'll understand as you get older and father time creeps in). Much more invigorating and cost effective than most summ ... more
