How are the mosquitoes this time of year?

Mike Kemp   August 14, 2015 at 8:59pm

Not insane but you still need bug spray.

Thinking about playing this course for the first time soon. Anyone have any idea on the course condition this time of year?

Leaves make the hills a bit slippery. We try to keep the fairways clear but there are too many trees lol. Nice sight lines now that the trees are bare though. Please remember to pay the $4 park fee!

Dave Nyhuis   December 25, 2014 at 11:43pm

Thanks for the update! I'll make sure to pay the $4.00 too!

Cristina Crosby   December 26, 2014 at 8:48am

sorry, $2, not $4

Anyone been to this park recently? Are the conditions playable?

Derek Straayer   March 26, 2014 at 2:26pm

I was there 2 Fridays ago and the place still had shin deep snow, but we have had a lot of melting, so who knows. there has been some good clearing on the front nine with some of the short pad lines being developed. please mind the flags for short pads and short collars.

Nate Upton   March 26, 2014 at 3:12pm

Yeah, our friends are in the process of clearing it out so its in tournament shape for this summer. They aren't done yet, but it should be playable and enjoyable.

Cristina Crosby   March 26, 2014 at 4:05pm

Chain Out DGC will be hosting a Trilogy Challenge in June. If it ever stops snowing the entire course should be well trimmed and very playable by the end of May.

Cristina Crosby    December 22, 2013 at 8:26am

Chain-Out Disc Golf Club is holding a meeting on January 18th at 5pm at Wright Way Carpet in Ionia. This meeting to get local disc golfers involved in the improvement of Bertha Brock. If you'd like to attend please message me or post on Chain-Outs page.

I have been thinking a lot lately about trying to get a "club" sport going at the High School level. We could involve Belding (When their course is complete), Greenville, Lowell, Ionia, possibly some Grand Rapids teams, and possibly Lake Odessa. It would require some adults to step up and become coaches. Would anyone be interested in this? This may be a long term goal.

I'm very interested I can this. I'd ultimately would like to see Ionia the county as a whole establish some form of a dg club/group for the courses in the area. I a gr native, so would like to see an Ionia native step up and take these reigns with our help of a course.

Say something ... Just got an e-mail from Bertha Brock parks manager. We need to spread the word that the front 9 holes are CLOSED ON WEDNESDAY AFTER 5PM!!!!! Due to open shooting on at the gun club. This is a BIG CONCERN!!!!
Look, its only a few hours a week, on one night of the week. There is a sign posted on the 1st as well. Please spread the word, and lead by example.
Your help will make a difference.
Thanx

So I'm golfing this past Saturday at Bertha Brock. After only 2 holes, I'm already seeing empties thrown on the ground( mainly PBR cans) and a few others. Please pass the word around that ALL littering is unacceptable at this course. Anything that is thrown on the ground is litter, be it a cigarette butt, an empty or whatever. There are a few trash cans on the course, please use them. You had room to carry them onto the course, so you have room to take the empties to the next trash ca ... more
