Scorcher Sold Out and Big Shout Out

Thanks for everyone's support, the Scorcher sold out quickly!! May all bees find their fairway and land safely in the chains!

BIG SHOUT OUTS to some old heads and fellow founding HCDGC members Mike and Steve Campbell, Matt and Dave Dietz, and Josh Lemly for fixing two bridges at Mill Brook, Holes 5 and 11! Much love for your hard work and dedication today!

These guys (and a few others) volunteered countless hours (and years) to help create Mill Brook. Thanks for giving us a great course fellas!

Chuckin Bees with B Registration Still Open and Fixed!

Chuckin Bees with B has it's first registrant (brave soul). We learned that the registration link was not working and I was able to fix it (score!). The registration will remain open for the duration of the clinic, people can register any time. The clinic will start this Saturday, September 12, 2020 at 8 AM at Mill Brook. Chuckin' Bees with B!

Great news, we're going to start our inaugural disc golf class in August! We obtained approval from the Rec Council to move forward with the class and to continue growing the sport! The class is for any ages and experience. Class will start on Saturday, August 22 and run to Saturday, October 10, 2020. Participants get three discs and a bag, from Daddy Disc Golf. The gracious folks at Swan Harbor Farm in Havre de Grace will be allowing us to set up a temporary course for a one day event on Sunday, July 22nd. This is a beautiful piece of property. We want to have a small entry fee event, portion going towards the Scorcher. Likely have some grilling going on too. What type of event would you like to have?

We're thinking either 2 rounds of singles or 1 round of weighted doubles or trips then 1 round of singles.

The winning entry will have their team's entry fee for LTT paid for (if you're not playing, we'll work something out).

Rising Sun

All,

Mr. David Taylor met with the Mayor and Council of Rising Sun last night. He believes they had a good meeting and there was a lot of interest expressed by the town to see and experience the course this weekend. He promised to report back to the Mayor/Council and the Cecil Whig (local newspaper) with the date and time of our arrival. With that said, I’ve had about a 50/50 split between Saturday and Sunday.

Mr. David Taylor met with the Mayor and Council of Rising Sun last night. He believes they had a good meeting and there was a lot of interest expressed by the town to see and experience the course this weekend. He promised to report back to the Mayor/Council and the Cecil Whig (local newspaper) with the date and time of our arrival. With that said, I’ve had about a 50/50 split between Saturday and Sunday.

At this point, I’m going to decide to stick with Saturday. We’ll be arriving at approximately 10 AM. I apologize that this will exclude a few folks, but Sunday would do the same. Just because you can’t attend doesn’t mean that you cannot help. If you have a basket that you are willing to let us borrow, please let one of us know. We can come to your residence pick it up and return it to you sometime next week. If Rising Sun approves the course, they’re probably going to need manpower to put the course in. So we may have more opportunities to help them out.

The course is located in pretty much downtown Rising Sun. David Taylor told me to head north on Rt 1, veer right onto 273 when nearing Rising Sun. Head straight on 273 into Rising Sun, then turn right onto Wilson Street (Citgo gas station on left). He said head down Wilson Street about 1/4 mile and the park is on the left. Park at the pavilion and Tee 1 will be right by it. He’ll meet us at the pavilion. On Google Maps, the park is called Stubbs Hill Regional Park, but Mr. Taylor told me it’s called Rising Sun Veterans Park.

Once finished at Rising Sun, I’m still going to proceed to French Creek, and Dave Dietz said he’d join me. I’ll have seats open in my ride, so who else wants to join me?

Instructional League

The Scarboro Hills Disc Golf Club will be starting an Instructional Disc Golf League starting Nov. 13. We’ll meet every Saturday for 6 weeks. If interested please check out the flyer for more information.

This club was brought together to raise awareness of the sport through various activities. In doing so, we can hopefully get more courses in the area.
Other goals are to help maintain Scarboro as one of the top-notch courses in Maryland, as well as running more tournaments. First year membership fee is $25. You will get a custom ... more
