The sooner we get the back 9 done the sooner we can start (loosing our discs in the water) playing the whole 18 hole course.

Forecast is for rain, but if it is not raining in the morning, I plan on working on the 15th fairway on Saturday AM, 4/2, from 8:30 to 11:00.

Did the Polar Bear plunge at Portage Lakes yesterday (the jump was at the beach and not at the boat ramp like last year. The parking lot was full and the jumpers raised well over $30,000.00 for the Akron Canton Regional Food Bank). Did the Polar Bear plunge at Portage Lakes yesterday (the jump was at the beach and not at the boat ramp like last year. The parking lot was full and the jumpers raised well over $30,000.00 for the Akron Canton Regional Food Bank). I threw my ace race mini to the crowd from the jumping platform, it was a sweet D-----anhyzer like it should of been and the crowd we're all _______. after I threw I jumped into the icy waters (and not knowing what the crowd did, because at that point i was concerned about getting to the mens warm changing room) for charity. I raised $ 300 personally and want to thank all who supported me (only one Disc golfer, Thanks Mr. Brad Evans. Your an amazing and GREAT friend. This years jump was at the Beach area of the State Park as the New Franklin Fire Capt. didn't like the idea of people plunging into waters over their heads like last year. But still, there was more onlookers than jumpers and the jumpers only had to jump into 3-4 ft of 37 degree water. It happened so fast that it wasn't an issue. Oh sure your cold for awhile. but only for a little while and we all jumped for a good cause.

before the jump I walked the back nine. The work that has been done looks very appearant right now with the winter landscape covering the land. Still a lot of work to be done. # 14, #15, # 16 still need the majority of the grunt work. I personally don't think the State Park knows it will take a lot of work to keep the DGC trimmed down once we get the course put in (hopefully in 2011, I don't know it seems like 2011 will be a busy year for the area Disc Golfers to unite and not fight <me included, nuff said>)

Next prior to the Polar Bear plunge, I want to have an Ice Bowl / plunge Disc Golf tournament. With extra sweet prizes given away to the jumpers. Anyone who is interested in helping me do this tournament, just contact me. we got about a year to work on it. How it will work right now is play one round of 18, hand out prizes to those who don't want to jump and get ready for part 2. The Polar Bear Plunge then after changing go over to the Harbor Inn where they have a jumpers after party and pass out the prizes for the Disc Golfers/ Jumpers. pretty simple.

No ONE will be required to take the Polar Bear plunge, but all will be incouraged and even if I'm the only jumper (again) Hopefully I'll have more supporters there cheering me on as next year I'll have a nice prize attached to the mini that I'll be throwing into the crowd.

Stopped by the course today to do some clearing. They were drilling holes for the baskets and tee signs on the front 9. Wow! what a great course this is going to be, some holes play right next to and over the lake. All nearby disc golfers should at least take the time to stop by and check it out. Once you do you will want to help get it done as soon as possible.
