Sept.17th 2022 - Clean-up day

We will meet at Painesville Recreation Park and address a few issues! first we will paint the bench on hole 8. Then some trimming on holes 9-11-13. 10 AM. Bring gloves, hand clippers, hand saws, trimmers etc, no gas. If someone wants to bring some screws and or whatever is needed to tackle the course sign that would be a bonus. Thanks in advance!

It looks like we made 604 dollars after all cost and the players packs. 28 folks showed up in 20 deg. weather with 20 inches of Snow to support our community! This is why I love the disc golf community Great job all!! I will weigh the food and have cash and food totals up on the tourny page in the next few days!! Please share this if you played!! His generosity comes both with time and money given to courses, but also to his fellow disc golf family. Sean has fallen on some serious health issues, and we'd like to give back to him, just as he has and would do for any of us.

This event will be a Bring Your Own Partner Doubles Event playing "Best Shot" format with two rounds of 9 holes at Osborne Park in Willoughby, Ohio. All proceeds will go directly to Sean to help him out in his time of need. We are actively looking for donations of prizes for this event and a benefit to be held after the event at Lakeshore Lounge to raise additional funds for Sean and his family. Please consider donating a disc or anything else disc golf related for this event. Prizes will be based on the donations we receive, and at a minimum, there will be CTPs on each hole during the event and hopefully some extra prizes for the top 2-3 teams in each division.

If registration dictates, this event may move to Sims Park to allow more players to participate.

I will hold the 108 dollar Ace fund and we will hopefully resume after the start of the year. If things settle down again we will resume. First league round begins next Friday, May 8th at Sims Park and will move to a different course for each of the other 3 weeks this is being done. Rounds will be allowed during a 4 day window each week, running Friday through Monday. Rounds must be played with cards of a minimum of 2 players and a maximum of 4. There are strict rules for payment, scheduling of rounds, and score reporting that are explained on the league pages and must be followed to have an accepted score. This is open to all players, and all payments will for entry and weekly payouts will be handled on PayPal. So check it out and get out there on the course for some "virtual" competition!!

Course Work Day

Lake County Disc Golf Club will be hosting a course work day on Saturday, March 14th at The Pond at 10am.  Please bring any tools that will help you contribute to the course work including gloves, tree saw, clippers, rakes, etc.  We are getting the course ready for the 2020 season as we will be hosting the Frozen Fingers Finally the following week.  Thanks in advance for helping us in this cause!

Don't forget that Sept 1st is the last Sunday at the pond. We will take a month off and resume as our Winter league in October Congrats to Lee for grabbing the Ace Fund on hole 7 last week. That means Ace will be what we collect Sunday. Thanks as always for your support and your extra dollar every week goes for helping us provide events and donating to grow the sport. This year we donated 300 dollars to the new course at the North rd. Elementary school. See you Sunday and see you in October ... more

So hole 1 now starts at the back of the park! Entrance off Eaglewood. Hole 1 is a 168' dogleg right (on or over road OB, drop zone marked). After crossing the road Hole 2 throws strait with woods on the left 229'. Hole 3 is down the hill and along Lake Erie. throws right and up a hill 252'. Walk along lake to hole 4 which is up the hill now away from the lake. A tree on the right makes it a tough drive 368'. Hole 5 now throws along the tree line ... more

Wrecking Crew Wednesday- Painesville Disc Golf Club

Osborne Park Disc Golfers!!!
Because of the quick erosion of the lake holes 6, 7, and 8. This Wednesday we ask that you come to league to help us move hole 7 to a new location and remove Hole 1 to a different location! We are going to need some help and anything you can do to help keep the Osborne Disc Golf Course (The OZ) intact. We will be there at 5, but please join us any time after that! Because of the quick erosion of the lake holes 6, 7, and 8. This Wednesday we ask that you come to league to help us move hole 7 to a new location and remove Hole 1 to a different location! We are going to need some help and anything you can do to help keep the Osborne Disc Golf Course (The OZ) intact. We will be there at 5, but please join us any time after that! Alternative Unofficial Event

The Ace Race has been cancelled because the we didn't meet the minimum number of people at registration. However, because Painesville Disc Golf Club has already paid to reserve the park and pavilion, we plan on hosting an unofficial event on the same day (9/15). We will decide the format based on the number of people who show up. It could be a scramble or an ace format. If you are interested, show up by 9:30am so we can figure things out and get started. We throw at 10am sharp. See you then!

Tee Pads For Painesville Recreation Park

It's August 1st and we finally have a green light to proceed with the tee pad installation at The Pond in Painesville Recreation Park! Currently our contractor has a backlog of work and will not be able to start until mid-August. In order to make way for this project to continue, there are a few baskets and tee locations that will need to be moved. I will give details on that later, but what we really need now is some guys who are willing to help out and see this project through. Most o ... more

In order to make way for this project to continue, there are a few baskets and tee locations that will need to be moved. Most of us work during the week which makes moving these things difficult. Since we don't want to limit our manpower, we are having Painesville City Park dig the new basket holes and all we will need to do is dig up the old ones (four total) and move them to their new locations (with concrete in tact) and spread some more concrete over top and around the base. We are looking to do this on Saturday's and Sunday's. If you are willing to help, please let us know what Saturday's and Sunday's you are open to help in August. Also let us know if you have shovels and or wheel barrows you can bring to help make the move. We are almost done with the course and look forward to working together to complete it! Kids Camp a success

We had two groups of Disc Golfers at the finals
KIDS CAMP class. We threw 3 holes as two groups and had prizes for the first place person in each group and participation cards for all! A couple of the kids have gotten pretty good over the last few weeks. Thanks to the City of Painesville for making Disc Golf a part of this years camp. Thanks Rollie Rush Jr. for the hand today, and exhibition of cool shots! The kids loved the over the lake shot!

Painesville Kids Camp

I am looking for one or two volunteers to help me on June 13th Tues. and July 25th Tues. at 9 am at The Pond, Painesville Recreation Park. The Rec dept is bringing their camp kids up to the park to learn the game of Disc Golf. These are Tuesday dates, so if your on Vacation or want to help reach out to young folks and get them to love the game as we do. Course Work Day

We are having a course work day on March 11th at 9am to add more support to the tee signs as two of them were vandalized. This will help prevent them from further damage and add to the life of the signs. Bring your screw guns to help with this if you have them. We will also do a little more "trimming" on hole 9 as well as some cleanup. Also, bring any discs you no longer use as we will try to plan a disc swap. If time permits we may even throw a round! Course Improvement Update

We got the ok to go ahead with the tee pad installation. So we are currently seeking quotes for doing 18 (10'x4'x4") concrete pads on the course. If you know of anyone who does concrete for a living and would do a great job, please leave their contact information in this post. Thanks! We are looking to have this done in an April/May time frame. So if all goes well, we should have the tee pads in by late spring. This will hopefully improve the course and quality of play greatly! We have rescheduled the course work day to Saturday, October 8th at 9am. Bring tree saws and any other tools you have to cut branches. Also bring your extra discs that you want to get rid of as we will have a disc swap meet right after our work is done. Maybe we will even play a round. Let us know if you can make it!

Work Day

Come join us for a work day on Saturday, September 17 from 10am-1pm. We will be trimming trees by the pond hole as well as clearing brush from the woods that affect play. Tee Signs Are Up!

Wanted to let everyone know that the new tee signs are up! These are much better than the original signs we had and provide a clear map of each hole and obstacle. We have also added directions to the next hole on each sign so this will help with the new course flow. 18 Hole Course Grand Openings Set

We have tentatively set the grand openings of the newly expanded 18 hole course. Tuesday, July 26 at 4pm will be the grand opening for Painesville City. Saturday, July 30th at 10am for the entire disc golf community. During these dates there will be a course dedication, acknowledgement of sponsors, and open disc golf. Please join us for one of those dates as we celebrate the first 18 hole disc golf course opening in Lake County!

Next Work Day June 18th!

ATTENTION! This Saturday we are looking to finish up the course. Our job will be to pour the tee sign posts and get those in the ground and set. The city will have the holes already dug for us, but because we are working on a Saturday, we will not have access to the parks equipment. So if you can make it, please bring a wheel barrow or shovel if you have access to them. We plan on starting at 9pm and going until they are done. All Fundraising Goals Have Been Met!

Thanks to another generous donation, we have met all our financial goals allowing us to purchase all equipment and materials to complete the entire course! This will be a slow and steady process, but we hope to have the remaining nine holes and 18 new tee signs in by the end of July. The tee pads will be done at a separate time. Spring Fundraiser Thanks!

Thank you to everyone who participated in the Spring Fundraiser Tournament last Saturday. Because of you, we raised over $1,300! On top of that we received an additional $600 in donations, which made for our highest grossing fundraising event ever! Because of your participation and generosity, we have now raised enough money not only for nine new baskets, but also 18 new tee signs! We first went over the Ice Bowl Plans, Disc are ordered and all is ready to go. Goal is 300 dollars and 100 lbs of food! Donations are still coming in the latest from Sean Barnes 450 dollars. we have 235 dollars still in our Club Cash Fund. and pledges and DPO donations are at 3203 towards a goal of 4500 to start install. Mickey will be writing a memorandum of understanding between the Parks dept and club. We have decided on an April 16th Fundraiser tournament as a final push towards our goals. ... more

Today we got all 9 tee signs in, and wheeled the distances for each hole! Good News!

Good news all the equipment is here! We will announce course installation days and details early next week. If any of you would like to help shovel concrete or assemble baskets we would appreciate your help. However most of the time may be during the work week so if you have any vacation time and can help out that would be awesome! We may get a Saturday to work on it as well. Help Needed For Course Install!

As this gets posted, equipment for the course is starting to roll in. It's a very exciting time for Painesville Disc Golf! That being said, we are in need of help for the course install. We are looking for both experienced and those that have never installed a course before to help. The main duties included mixing and pouring concrete as the City of Painesville will be digging holes for us with an auger. We are looking for both experienced and those that have never installed a course before to help. The main duties included mixing and pouring concrete as the City of Painesville will be digging holes for us with an auger. The work dates have not been assigned yet, but we are looking to start sometime around the week of June 22nd. Saturday's are the most likely days for the install, but we will not rule out evenings during the week if that works better for most. Painesville Disc Golf Course Benefit to fund construction

Do not forget to be there at Recreation Park this Sat. for the Fund raising tournament! We will meet at Kiwanis Recreation Park, 33 mill Street in Painesville at 9:15 am, but anyone wanting to get there early to help set up, I will be there at 8:00 am. 20 dollars to enter and all money will benefit the new course and Club as we move to a Late May start construction date!! Prizes to 3rd place in each group...novice and intermediate! I will have water and a snack to get us going!!

We have a month to go for our door to door fundraising. We have applied for 3 community grants and will host 2 fundraisers in April so we can reach our goal to raise enough money to install the course in Painesville Recreation Park. On Saturday, April 4th, we will be having a fundraiser event at Play It Again Sports in Lyndhurst. Play It Again Sports does carry disc golf discs from several manufacturer's so it would be a good time to stock up for the upcoming disc golf season!

Both baskets are rated identical with the exception of the Innova yellow band having a tendency to fade.

6. We plan on ordering equipment the beginning of May and will begin the install after it arrives.
7. We will need as many volunteers as we can get to help with the installation of the course.

Poll: DGA baskets vs Innova baskets

One thing we will be discussing at our first meeting is the debate on DGA baskets vs Innova baskets. After getting quotes for both, the Innova quote came in $1,300 cheaper (this includes the cost of course signs and freight). Do any of you have a preference which basket we should install and why? Do you believe there is a major difference in quality between the two? Are there any advantages of one or the other? Please post your thoughts and we will discuss this further at our meeting. First Layouts thrown around

At our second meeting with Painesville Parks and rec, we went over a few layouts for the proposed course. After The Ice Bowl we will be lining up a early Spring benefit to help fund The new Painesville Course at Kiwanis Recreation Park! Thought it would be fun (Bob) Becker, showed me an elevation shot from the top of hill!! When the weather breaks we will get the final layout for the first 9!
