I have some scoop on the Fairmont Park project... I should have some big news by mid week...

In the mean time, please start looking at July 27th & 28th, and/or Aug. 3rd & 4th on your calendar.

I probably should have elaborated. These are projected work days for us to install Innova equipment at Fairmont Park!

Rick Petrie    July 8, 2013 at 2:50am

Found on Current #2 Fairmont:
Yellow Innova DX Cheetah stuck in a tree (left it). Might have to call the FD ladder truck to get that cat down.
Also,
Innova F2 (Factory 2nd) blizzard disc. If you can name the disc + stamp color, I'll get it to you asap.

Rick Petrie    July 6, 2013 at 4:51pm

One week from today I'll be headed to the Sunflower State Games disc golf tournament. Saturday is the doubles format, played just like our Tuttle Tuesday best disc format, however you bring your teammate. Sunday is a standard singles tournament. You can sign up and play in one of the two tournaments for $25 or both for $35. If you medal (top 3 (bronze, sliver, gold)), you'll be qualified to play in the 2014 State Games of America.

Personally I love playing in the Doubles event... m ... more

All the Sunflower State Games events/competitions take place in the Topeka area. The disc golf tournament is at Crestview course. http://sunflowergames.com/disc-golf

For anyone wondering all holed are up at Tuttle except hole 10

Rick Petrie   July 4, 2013 at 12:39pm

Is there something in the way preventing them from re-installing #10? They've been known to forget to return all 18 baskets... lost in their storage lot I suppose. LOL!

Hey all you 2012-2013 DFOK Points League Champions, please tell me you received your $10 Discs Unlimited gift certificates (via email). I sent them out back on the 19th, but haven't heard a peep out of anyone receiving them (except for Bill).

Hey I got mine Rick! Cool prize for tag league!

Austin Cranston    July 3, 2013 at 8:28pm

I'm sure there will be a car pool for the state games for the first day doubles, but will there be one for singles the next day?

William Mitchell   July 4, 2013 at 12:08am

Check with Clouse. He needs a push to enter in this tournament.

Mitchell Brenn    July 3, 2013 at 7:15pm

Would anyone be willing to teach me how to push putt? I've watching this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N_7RPOmSSsU and others and I just don't get it when I try to implement it in real life.

FYI, There is a residency requirement for the Sunflower State Games. You have to be a Kansas resident to participate, partially because it is a qualifying event for the State Games of America.

Kevin Zane   July 5, 2013 at 12:34am

....well, one of those guys got back to me and we will be out there saturday and sunday. Good luck everyone.

Rick Petrie   July 5, 2013 at 7:23pm

Cool Zane. DFOK domination of the SSG! (ya, you're still a DFOKer in my mind).

Rick Petrie    July 2, 2013 at 7:32am

Basket A.P.B. for Fairmont tomorrow night. Oh, and all are welcome to play league while you're there.

For those of you who do not read or have opted out of the official DFOK News emails, I thought I would post an update here.
At approx. 6:00pm last night, we received our last Half Fairway donation, thus completing our Fairmont Disc Golf Course Fairway Sponsorship Campaign!
BIG THANKS TO ALL WHO HELPED RAISE THE NECESSARY FUNDS!
Stay tuned for construction updates, scheduled club work days, etc.

It's going to be an exciting July & August for Disc Golf in Manhattan, KS!

I forgot to mention at league... I found an Excal with no name at Fairmont the other day.

Lost Disc Alert:
I threw it On The Wild Side of the fence on new fairway #3.
It's a mostly white with tie-dye swirl Wraith (champion plastic).
Otherwise known as the perfect pattern to lose in tall grass. :-)

Rick Petrie   June 30, 2013 at 6:51pm

FOUND. Three guys were playing the new layout (sign-to-sign style) and found my lost Wraith. I just happened to ask them if they found a Wraith over the fence, they said yes, then handed it to me. Awesome!

Rick Petrie    June 26, 2013 at 3:40pm

In all the preround fundrasing lastnight, I forgot to mention this week's DFOK Meeting.
So here goes.
Thursday, June 27th (tomorrow)
5:30pm
Manhattan Public Library
at intersection on Poyntz & Juliette.

Hope to see you there.

I am willing to start another $50 group to sponsor a half fariway at Fairmont. I need 4 more people to get in on this with me. And as I have been informed by Rick time is of the essence so lets get this money together so we can have our names etched in metal forever.

Scott, Jon is up to speed with this, I think he just wanted everyone to know what they are agreeing to/what recognition they're getting for their donation.

Rick Petrie   June 25, 2013 at 10:49pm

FYI, Alan finished up this group of five tonight before doubles league. Good Job Alan! Watch for official DFOK News later tonight.

Greeting on this Thursday lunch hour (for me at least).

I have some news that's still "developing", but not locked down with check in hand just yet. Therefore I'm going to keep it vague and post it on this Talk tab.

This morning I received another verbal commitment for a Full Fairway! Considering the organization, it's a 95% lock!

That means we only have 2 more fairways to go! (Technically it's shown as 1 Full + 2 Half fairways, but we can do some shuffli ... more

Revise that. one more Half fairway sponsor locked in their spot over the lunch hour today. We're in the home stretch now! Unly 1.5 fairways to go!

Travis Bailey    June 18, 2013 at 12:30pm

After not playing Warner in nearly 1.5 months, I've learned that the new hazards on hole 6 like to eat discs. Took me a solid 30 minutes to find it. Avoid them at all costs. Haha!
